Hey guys...

Have you had that problem that you want the product now, and can't wait and you would go to a local computer store .. it used to be compusa/circuitcity ... now only left bestbuy/microcenter and purchase the producd for much higher price? and don't care.. other wise you wouldn't even think its worth it getting it online and waiting a whole week for it?

Well heck, its all relative. If having "it" at the moment is worth the additional price, grab it and enjoy. On the flip side, if you need to save a couple bucks...grab a snickers cuz you're gonna end up waiting a week :p

PS- Just go get it because it sounds like you really want to but are feeling bad about knowingly spending a couple more dollars!

I did few times... thought I did buy an Intel CPU from microcenter...even with taxes..it was still cheaper than newegg and whatever was on the web... I never saw any good deals on anything else other than CPUs in microcenter..they dont have bad prices for motherboards too...and hard drives

It depends on what the product is, what the price difference is and how fast I need it. Factor in shipping and sometimes it makes more sense to go ahead and buy the product locally. Computer cases are often a good example of this. For some things its worth a few bucks for the ability to return the item easily should you need to do so for any reason. Right now Microcenter has some of the best prices on processors anywhere right in their store. So as a result I've often bought quite a few CPUs from them. Last time I bought a CPU I went ahead and got it from Newegg because I combined it with my Newegg order. It was actually cheaper locally, but buy the time I drove out there and paid tax on it, it was really about the same price as it was on Newegg. Since I couldn't use it until my motherboard and RAM arrived, it just made sense that time to buy it with the board from Newegg. All things being equal I'd rather have it now and just get it from a store. If there is substantial savings involved, then I'll definitely buy the part online. Sometimes I've needed a part and needed it now. I've factored in overnight shipping and often found that it was cheaper to buy it in a store. In that situation you really get raped either way, but buying locally ensures that you'll get it now. Sometimes next day isn't next day when buying online because of the processing lead time that sometimes comes up with online orders. (Such as late afternoon purchases.)

Cheap bastards unite! :D I work at Best Buy and I can often get things online cheaper than Best Buy's cost. Although it is a lot easier to return things to a store then online. Unfortunately there are no local big chain stores within several hundred miles of me that sell computer components other than the DVD burners, video cards, memory, and PSUs that Best Buy sells. But Best Buy's memory prices aren't nearly as bad as they used to be, especially if you can get them on sale.

They don't have a very good memory selection as I recall. If you want some Corsair Doninator GT's, your out of luck.

It all depend on the price difference. I would pay an extra ~10 to get it if needed.

But there are times where you need it - Example video card due to no video on Motherboard.

frys (outpost) .. still has a policy ...order before 11:30PM/12AM, you will get it next day ..

I never understood people lining up for hours and days in front of a store and pay huge premium for same item that you could get much cheaper a month later at most. Unless you get a HUGE saving ($1000 or more), or you get a huge bonus or limited edition of similar dollar value ($1000), I'd never line up overnight in front of the store. I'd much rather spend the time at home playing games or spending time with family.

Then again, I'm not a teenager/college kids with nearly unlimited free time...

if the price difference is negligible...like 10 bucks, i'd go B&M to have it sooner

otherwise i pretty much shop online only, I'm cheap enough to factor time, gas cost, and tax vs shipping

most the time i just wait and go online.

Things like a monitor I would buy locally i.e. Microcenter, if I have to return it I'd jump in the car and drive a few miles. The horror stories of people receiving their displays via ups/fedex and the thing arriving damaged or not packaged right I can't take that chance.

For all other stuff if the price is the same at b&m as online I'd purchase locally don't want to wait for shipping especially if I need that part to complete an upgrade or something.
