Show Your LCD(s) setups!!!

What is your opinion abut quality of XHD3000??
Im considering one of this [XHD3000] vs Dell 2209WA in portrait mode and second Benq FP241W in horizontal mode and I dont know witch setup to buy...
I would use monitor/monitors for web design, work on text, watching video and playing on Xbox 360...
Can you help me

Just moved into my new house, here's a crappy picture for now. 3 Dell 3007's and 2 Dell 2408's.

Nice.

I hope to replace my 2707 with a 3008 (need the ports) in the near future...just waiting for it to dip below $999 on Dell Outlet. As much as I'd love a third, I'm not sure I have viable desk space for that. :) lol. Little annoyed that the 3008 isn't black bezel like the 3007, they won't match when I do it. :(

o_O"

And I thought my 30 + 20" was enough real estate... The picture makes the LCDs look small but having a 30 in front of me I can appreciate the size of that setup. Truly [H].

I've not owned the Dell, but I am very happy with the XHD3000's. That however does not mean I can recommend them. Read on for an explanation.

They make great gaming, movie watching, web browsing and text reading monitors. They would not be suited for professional photo editing where color accuracy is vitally important. They are getting harder and harder to find as they are a discontinued model by Gateway. With all the warranty issues they've had with the panels I'd say purchasing one of these is a crap-shoot at best. Many have the two second black-out issue, which is annoying but not deal breaking. The deal breaker is the permanent vertical lines that begin to appear after a year on many of these panels. I've been able to escape it so far, but one of my panels does have two lines that show up until the panel warms. Hopefully it will not turn into anything more than that. Regardless, this is an awesome monitor scarred by horrific Gateway customer support and poor odds of getting a good one, especially at this point when most suppliers are selling their first generation stock that no one wanted after gen two was released.

I wish I could give you better news, but I'd have to recommend the Dell in all honesty.

LittleMe, that is an incredible setup! Very nice. I was considering the same desk for my triple 30's, so it is good to see a picture of it with a similar setup... answers a few questions I had. What do you do with your extreme real estate?

Thanks, it's really 3 different workstations I have there but I use it mostly for learning. I've got tons of different VM's running on my ESXi box, so it allows me to have several remote sessions open and and any documentation I need for what I'm doing.

The Ikea Galant is very nice and works great with the triple 30's. Can't really go wrong with it for the price. I'm thinking about picking up another extension part to it.

Ok, is it just me, or does that photo look really amazing? It looks like art or something. Did you do some sort of post-processing/touch-ups on it in Photoshop? Everything's so metallic. Put it on DeviantArt lol.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I sat and looked at that picture for a while thinking to myself, "wtf? why can I not stop looking at this?"

these are 3 Apple Cinema Displays 30"....might be a bit overkill since i do find myself turning A LOT

Gorgeous setup fvaldes! Is your background 7680x1600? I'd love a link to it unless it is a personal picture. Always looking for good triple 30" walls.

Think you might peel off the display labels though? :)

As a former salesperson and installer I have to agree. -1 to your [H] factor. ;)

Here's my setup... kinda messy but didn't feel like cleaning up. :)

Woot! Props for the Accelear 1200 in the bottom of your rack... 15 million packets per second baby....

I have several of those banging around the office. They are so noisy we quit even using those for lab gear.... those were great products in the day....

That's an amazing desk phiber!

I need something like that with that kinda real estate. I'm tired of my shitty keyboard tray sliding drawers, they arn't comfy and no space. :c(

In fact, I'm going to look on Craigslist now!

I still need to get final placement on my PC, I also have an under table cable management thingy to install that should help with some of the wire mess.

I wish I could get these to embed, but
isnt working for me.

The 32" TV is an LG 1080P 120Khz - Model: 32LH40. This is my main monitor, its gorgeous and I have absolutely no problems with the fonts/icons. Everything is crisp and clear. This also serves as my main gaming monitor. You can see my PS3 on the desk to the left of the monitor.

The 24" is a Gateway 24" 1080P 1920x1200 and is used as a second monitor. I will take some better pics that show off the new desk and also include my laptop.

The desk is an Ikea Galant. I love it.
The white PS3 controller is an import Dual Shock 3, I had it about 6 months before they hit the U.S. shores.

The speakers are Bose Companion 3's and I use them for when people are over and we are playing something and someone other than me needs to hear or when I am not at the desk and I want to listen to music.

The mixer is an AstroGaming Mixamp that I use with the PC/PS3/360. The headphones are AstroGaming A40s.

The keyboard is a Microsoft Sidewinder X6 gaming keyboard and the mouse is a Microsoft Sidewinder X8.

My main gaming rig is a C2D E8400 OC'd to 3.2, 4gb ram, WIndows 7. The other box is Windows Home Server C2D, 2GB ram, 4TB storage.

Will update signature with all display specs and full PC specs.

first post to the site, a lot of good stuff in here :)

just picked up my monitors from the post office this morning and set them up a couple of hours ago. i posted a photo of my old set up as well.

dual dell s2309w
check it out-

*snip*

Cool beans. Have you calibrated them yet? Interested to know about the quality of the panels in those.

I just replaced my dual 17's with dual 23" wide screens. Went with the Dell S2309W's as I got them for $150/ea. and free shipping. Quite impressed with them. Here's a before and after shot.

CaliGirl-
The mounts I am using are the Vanguard VM-811 and they are quite solid, no issues going from 19s to 23s (the suggested size for these mounts is up to 19in but these dell monitors fit the weight requirement, so i went with it)

webdes01-
me too! i got them for 190cad each though...

badcaps-
this may sound silly but i don't know how to really calibrate the monitors besides using a calibrating chart to modify the brightness/contrast.

forgot to mention that i'm trying to calibrate them properly because my monitor to the right is warmer, the white is slightly pink/reddish than my left monitor but i had the same issue with my old monitors (i thought before it was because they were two different panels but perhaps its my video card?)

they're both set to the same color temp, right? i know its a stupid question but i have to ask.

otherwise, is there an ICC color profile floating around for that monitor? that would in all likelihood correct your problem

Nice lookin' monitors! If it was me i'd tilt them in some, but other than that, i love it.

also, one of my fav. wallpapers <3

Few changes moved the computer, desk etc from last picture in here:p

Below is the pictures of one of the changes i have done

i found one on redflag deals actually! thanks..
now i have to figure out how to use these icc things.

ok here are the ICC profile for this screen: www.magietec.com/dell.zip

2 Version:

1. Brighter image

Red: 96
Green: 91
Blue: 89

Brightness: 65
Contrast: 59

Use file 2-Dell S2309W.icm

2. Darker (for closer prints and darker room)

Red: 96
Green: 91
Blue: 90

Brightness: 60
Contrast: 60

Use file: 2-Dell S2309W2.icm

Please note: I calibrate MY screen with a Spyer2Pro device. Your screen might be different. Ambient light also come to play, I'm in a relatively dark room. This is for colour accuracy, not a "WOW factor". You don't like? Delete the icc profile and come back to factory default.

This screen, like most, is too bight at default and have a blue tint. Beside that, I'm surprised for a TN since its not that bad vs my S-IPS (which are praise for colour reproduction)

Have fun!
