so far windows 7 has been great to me. two things i can't get working properly:

1. can't get the pc to go to sleep. tried jacking with the power management settings, says sleep after 30 min. just doesn't.

2. my gtx 280 doesn't down clock in 2D. it's actually clocked slightly higher than it supposed to be (617 vs. 612), weird. using very latest nvidia driver.

everything else is great. any great new features/tools i should play with?

What a useful comment eddie ...

2 is almost certainly a driver issue, which you'd need to wait for nvidia to fix. Report the bug to nvidia.

1 is often because some program is sending messages to others, which makes your computer think it is awake even if you aren't doing anything. This can be caused by malware or some program that claims to "speed up" something, like your mouse, for example. What such software does is poll the mouse position, and smooth its movement. That action keeps your computer awake.

In an adminstrator command prompt type in perfmon -energy. It will test a variety of thigns across your system and let you know the cause of problems like you are having.

ask eddie500 as he is the resident expert on Windows 7 :)

or just go to start>accessories>system tools or similar directory (on an Ubuntu box right now and don't remember exactly) then right click on "command prompt" and run as administrator as PedroDaGr8 already stated

I had the sleep problem on later builds. one of the builds between 7000 and 7100 worked for me though but the later builds did not. Nvidia card clocked down properly for me.

and it gets bigger and bigger. drivers each game has a different configuration, what if, 10000 games need each to be configured, thats nuts, the game maker should make the necessary modifications and not nvidia. imo...
