Logitech G9 now $20 AR shipped ... wow

price before rebate a bit too much for me to get this as a backup

This is the cheapest price I could find EVEN BEFORE the MIR on the entire internets.

Newegg's is $59.99 after MIR.

That's a great price.

Too bad I already have a blue G5 sitting around as a back up to my MX518... The thing about Logitech mice... they don't break...

Newegg sells the G9 for way too much. Amazon has been selling it at $57 for quite some time now (this is before the $30 MIR). I suppose Newegg gets enough sales that they can keep the mouse at $90.

Same here. Still have a MX518 NIB to backup my current MX518:) Still $20AR for this mouse is a good deal.

WTF?!?! $20? Only $3 difference from what I paid for mine on Wednesday. I opted for the free (7-9 day) shipping and it arrived today. They shipped it on Thursday from Edison NJ via Fedex. Regular Setpoint doesn't seem to pick up the mouse but it works. I'm going to the site to see if I need a specific version. No I didn't read the manual. lol.

hrmm... funny, i just went back old school and ordered a new 3 button Logitech Mouseman off Ebay. :D i missed my old favorite ball mouse, lol.

With all these deals going on with this mouse, I only have one concern. Whats the difference with the G9 and G9x?

um lol my Logitech mice usually break within a year

I hope they didn't break due to "goo" from "that" hand of yours... :D j/k

I've yet to have a logitech mouse break on me. This MX518 has been running since over 5 years ago. Still going strong... and I have the habit of tilting up the left side of the mouse and tap down repeatedly while waiting for something; impact inducing. xD

I have an MX1000 from when they came out, just need to upgrade, since it is pretty worn out.

Thanks OP, I was looking for a good deal!

The G9 is the only Logitech device I've ever had durability issues with. I still have a 5 year old working G5 that gets used every single day (not on my gaming system though). Razer products, on the other hand, don't generally even make it to the 1 year mark.

I paid 4 times as much for this 6 months ago. My only complaint is the Teflon seemed to wear out a bit fast. The plastic on the bottom of the mouse is scraping my plastic mouse pad causing friction and cosmetic damage. Otherwise the best mouse I've ever had.

I saw that Logitech themselves sell new mouse feet for $5 (+ shipping and maybe tax). Might be able to get them to send you new feet for free due to the warranty.

That is one of the reasons I stopped using rough plastic mouse pads.

After having a metal mousepad with rubber feet on the bottom (anti slip) for two years, I won't go back. I have that same mousepad and it still looks almost exactly as it did when it was new.

Logitech's warranty is solid. While both my Razer products are well over a year old and still work fine, I did have to replace the wireless USB receiver on my Cordless Desktop Wave within a few months of it being new. The support was awesome, though, and just a few days ago they mailed me a brand new mini USB receiver. I'll be back in business in no time.

I've used Microsoft, Razer, Logitech, and Kensington. The only brand out of those that has made consistent crap is Kensington. I have two old white/silver optical intellimouses. Both are over four years old and still work perfectly.

I would buy any of the above brands, and for $20 after rebate, I think I'm really going to give this mouse a try. What will I do with my Death Adder? I guess a comparison review would be in order... hehe.

Edit #2: I'm in no rush, but I noticed that faster shipping is only $2.50 extra. That is quite reasonable. I just did free shipping, but if you need a mouse, this is not too pricey.

Edit: FYI, the Razer keyboard I have now has been working fine for a long time, but the first one started having key problems within a month or two. Razer demanded a receipt in order to give me any kind of support. I bought it with a gift card, so there was no way to reprint a receipt at the store. They don't track gift card or cash transactions in any helpful way, just credit card and check. So I was outta luck on getting them a receipt. They flat out refused to help me. Tried phone, email, and their forum and got turned down every time. What a bunch of CRAP. I didn't steal the keyboard. I work at the stupid store, for crying out loud. 4 witnesses saw me pay for that thing.

Fortunately, my store allowed me to do a no receipt exchange, slightly out of return policy. I lucked out, and not because of Razer, but because of Best Buy.

Logitech didn't need ANY receipt verification when I asked them for support. The email I got requested proof of purchase, but same deal. I bought the Wave set with a gift card and some cash. I called and explained the situation and the guy said it's no problem whatsoever. As soon as I get the new receiver my set will once again work perfectly.

Logitech backs up good products with even better customer service. You can't go wrong.

That is because they have dates linked to the serial number of their products. If it is past the warranty on their system, they'll ask for receipt. But yeah great support over the phone, I think they are all American/Canadian. Just be prepared to be on hold for a while, and no toll-free number... thank god for magicJack. :c)

Kind of wish I didn't buy two of them from Amazon in the earlier deal. Oh well, $30AR was still cheap.

Dammit, man, I just bought a G9 for $55 off Ebay and that was the OEM version (still brand new, though).

But that rebate said it would take a whopping 8-12 weeks, not the usual "within 8 weeks" period.

even if the rebate never came (logitech has great rebate service) it'd still be $5 less than what you paid :p

Just got mine yesterday for $27 AR. It is actually alot shorter (length-wise) than my G5, which is kind of a disappointment. I would say I have larger than average hands, but not huge, and I figured that the G9 would be a wider, more "hand-supporting" mouse. Even for someone with smaller hands, I still think you would end up bending and curving your hand to have the rear of the mouse support your palm and the buttons accessible on the front. Doing a side-by-side comparison, I almost wish I had just kept the G5. Despite these shortcomings, I like the interchangable grips, weights, buttons, and programability. The LED coloring is a nice touch, too.

its so ugly! :p
+1! It's no MX Revolution in the looks department but it stomps it in gaming and desktop perfomance (tracking that is). I have both connected right now. I can't stand the G9 for desktop work, but it rules for gaming.

^^sounds like the g9 would be good as a laptop mouse
I have a Logitech laptop mouse and I prefer that over the G9 when using the laptop. It's small but still comfy.

As far as warranty support goes, Logitech's is excellent. I've never had an issue getting my products replaced when they failed.

This is a great example of why something like mouse preference is so subjective!

I've been using a mouse pad with a built-in gel wrist rest for months now and it has helped a lot (bare wrist on a hard surface for long periods of time = not a great idea). But I tried using the G9 without it and you're right -- it is shorter and I can see how that would be a big difference coming from the G5. Using this mouse without the wrist rest is a lot different!

I typically let my wrist rest on the raised gel blob and let the rest of my hand control the mouse. Great, precise finger control this way. Might I suggest trying one of those if you intend to stick with the G9? Or, if you really like the G5, you could also try the Razer DeathAdder or Steelseries Ikari at some point...both of those allow you to rest the bottom of your palm on the rear of the mouse, a la the G5.

A member on AT has small hands and ended up preferring to use the G9 bare, without the grips. I tried it yesterday and it makes it about the size of a VX Nano, hahaha. I roll with the smaller of the two grips -- it's proven to be my favorite during the past few months.

Yeah I hear you on the razer situation, I boughta brand new set of barracuda headphones from Best Buy and loved them to death, until 4 or 5 months after owning them the left channel stopped working, razer refused to do anything without a receipt. It sucked

Very tempting other than that $30 rebate. How is Logitech with their rebates?

In past experience, they are great.

Also, the teflon coating of the g9 grip wore away after 6 months and logitech sent me a new one free of charge.

Yeah, I hear their warranty support is top notch. Straight from little things going wrong to full replacements. It's just rebates I'm usually worries about since those are outsourced.

I think we'll be fine. Logitech stands behind their products and their advertising/support. I remember when the company for Antec's rebates went under. I contacted them and they had me mail the forms and UPC directly to them. I had to wait longer, but I did receive my $30 check for the 1000w modular Antec True Power. On that same thread another guy had to go through heck with emailing and telephone calls, but I believe he finally got his check too. Worth it though. After the rebate that beast was only $89 shipped. Black Friday FTW!!

Anyways, I'll be sure and let you guys know how this compares to my Death Adder, because I know some of you are Razer fans. Just remember to buy with a credit card or make sure you scan a copy of the receipt into your computer if you ever buy Razer products.

for warranty support, I've never had a better experience than with Logitech. I bought one of the first Ultra-X keyboards and the 'G' key stopped working intermittently, so I called them up. I told the guy what happened and he said "Ok, we'll send you a new keyboard right away." And that was that. Didn't have to send in the old keyboard or dig out receipts or any of that crap.

I'll be buying from Logitech for a long time because of that.

Is there a way to have the G9 not revert back to its default DPI setting? I like my DPI at 3200 and whenever I turn my PC back on I have to put it back to 3200 from 800 or something. Do I have to uninstall Setpoint for this to stop happening?

I bit, can't go wrong for 20 bucks. Guess I'll find out if it's better than my MX Revolutions.
