I have the 7100 build installed right now .. will any 'bugs' be addressed via windows update? ..with all these "leaks" , do the same keys work for installation? Do these "leaks" expire the same time as the 7100 build?

Same keys from Beta 1 to the last build pre-RTM will work fine, it's not an issue.

As for keeping up with the leaks, well... I get most of my info from Neowin's Windows 7 subforum, which gets it's info primarily from leaks of info from Russian sites and some "person" by the nick of WZOR that's been fairly accurate so far.

As for the leaks themselves, all I can say is "they're out there..." and that's that. ;)

New leaks, newer builds, they fix bugs, yes, but Windows Update will never feature the kinds of fixes the updated builds cover or address. Windows Update is primarily for major updates, security issues, Defender updates, driver updates, etc. It wasn't designed to be a way of distributing every stinkin' bug fix that comes along, especially during beta/RC stages.

The only way to get the latest "fixes" is to grab the latest leak, basically. There's a big difference in performance (at least there is to me) from the RC build 7100 to what we've got right now which is 7201 in a useful format. We could be staring at 7260 in the next day or so, depends on how things go.

I don't think they're ready to RTM just yet, I believe most of the reports are just premature. They have a date set for general release - Oct 22nd - and they usually RTM code 2 months before that date, more or less, so we could be looking at continued development well into August whether people believe it or not. There's just too much stuff to be done to RTM it in the next week as reports are claiming... too much testing to do, driver development, etc.

Microsoft doesn't need or require 4 months lead time, they're already all over this release from the marketing standpoints...

Coming out faster now.. Leak X86 (32 bit ) 7260 now out on one torrent

I'm still running a pre-RC Win7 release from several months ago on my spare PC at home. I've only downloaded a new version twice and then the excitement kind of worn off. It's stable and all that, so I'm content until the final comes out.

There has been some essential changes sense then. The minimal version to be on right now is 7100.

Well all I do on that PC is browse the internet while I game on my gaming PC (which is run by Vista Ultimate 64). So there's no reason for me to update.

I'm "still" using RC1 (or 7100) and so far I have not had any reason to want to upgrade. But in all fairness, I don't spend a lot of time WIndows other than when I want to play games, so my opinion is probably not very relevant anyway.

except that the the beta expires on august 1 and bi-hourly shutdowns start on july 1.

I have read that the new leaks are marginally faster .. but is that going to be noticeable on a Q6600@3ghz w/4gb of ram?
