Why would anyone want to pay $50 for a game....where you ride on a train.

Oh...wait...so you get to DRIVE the train while it's on tracks. WOW

This is as bad as the guy who sells "Blank Inside" cards.

Wtf...

- Watch the action from a number of spectacular pre-set views, including cab, passenger, trackside and bird's eye

As if traveling isn't boring enough?

- Includes over 50 scenarios to test your driving ability

That would be.... fast and slow choices?

- Advanced mode creates a challengingly realistic engine driving experience

More speed choices?

Fail Steam. Fail.

I'm going to make a game called "Mine Car Alley" and you have to used your character to push mining cars loaded with coal up and down tracks all day.

I'll make MILLIONS!

I guess the same people who would like to drive model trains would buy this because its cheaper.

This type of game has been around for a while, and I agree, it's silly. Apparently there are still a fair few people that would love to try it though...

I was interested at first, until I watched the trailer and then I thought, WTF is up with the $49.99 price tag.

I was under the impression that you got to build your own track etc. etc. but there was nothing to show that and the trailer made it look quite boring.

I was hoping to be able to build some tracks, create a scenario where a dump truck stops on the tracks and you can't stop the train... stuff like that. From what I saw, it doesn't look like that's possible or if it is, the effect would be less than satisfying.

That's just...well pretty awful for a game. Think I will make a game called "House Painter", the best part will be watching the paint dry from various locations in and around the house.

I was literally JUST looking at this on Steam before alt tabbing to [H] and seeing this. $50 is absurd.

It's coming to me now. GotY will have to be Inner Ninja. There are different levels such as one where you have to wax cars or sand decks or paint fences to unlock the bonus level Walk the Dog.

Tark

That would be a great game to come home and play after a long day of...

Painting houses :D

(I paint houses in the summer for my job haha)

East bound and down...loaded up and...oh wait we're on a frigging train so we can't really say we're trucking now can we? FFFFFfffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu..........

At least they could have put in areas like the little king dude from Mr. Roger's Neighborhood...cuz he always had that train that would go by. Or maybe Midgar...also delivering fresh souls to the depths of Hell might be visually entertaining...I'll stop.

I'd bet it's more fun to post in this thread making fun of the game than it is playing it.

Of all the things to simulate... Jets, helicopters, tanks, soldiers, planes, cars... a TRAIN? What the hell?

Oh, miss spot.

If this is how it works then damn I am going to make a lumberjacks workday sim and get rich.
Who knows maybe they will even make Xtreme DLC with electricity powered trains and stuff :O

Could be worse... could have been a cargo ship simulator...

...nevermind, I just thought of scenarios like pirate attacks and oil spills which would make that sim interesting.

A southbound train leaves its station in Chicago, Illinois at 5:25 PM and maintains an average velocity of 41 MPH. At 6:15 PM, a northbound train leaves its station from Joplin, Missouri and maintains an average velocity of 39 MPH. At what time does the gamer have fun?

Wow a train simulator? Guess people will make all sorts of games it seems.

Heroin hero is probably more fun

So, you guys think if I made a game of the Myth of Sisyphus, people would buy it?

What could be more boring, Houseworks were it's just a house and people in it doing daily routines. Oh ,wait that's The Sims. ;)

Well, people play Call of Duty n, and I don't see how it's all that different...

RailWorks does include an editor so you can design your own railroads and such. There are also scenarios/missions to play that do require some skill and knowledge. Driving a train can be a challenge, and therein may lie the satisfaction in playing this.

Considering how popular model trains were...I don't see a problem with this. And I'm sure it's a hell of a lot cheaper than putting together a whole landscape on a table. If I was into that stuff, I'd pick it up. Just like if I was into flying, I'd pick up FSX or something.

when I was a youngin' I used to play Train Simulator...I used to have a huge train fascination in my day. It could be kind of challenging, but was actually pretty fun, and some of the scenery was rather neat for a game of that age.

I can't imagine enjoying something like it much anymore, but I do believe tehre is a niche crowd for it...especially the hobbyist model train, train restorers, etc. I'm surprised its #2 selling on steam though?

Anyway...I'd say its a bit of a dont knock it til you try it...but knocking expected haha.
