i knew i wouldn't be able to afford the lg
I love LG's all the lcds ive own except for this dell 2209wa were LG's
they make good monitors
but the dell was more affordable option for me and i'm happy with it

I'm suprised that there aren't any reviews/opinions on the net for the W2420R - the high-end model that was supposed to hit the stores in may. Also W2420P should have caused a lot of fuss since it is an affordable 24" IPS monitor with sRGB.

Are they shipping? Kind of hard to do user reviews if there are none in user hands. Just look that Dell 2209wa. Tons of buzz and user review because people can actually buy them. When they start shipping these I would expect some buzz. Most people are probably more interested in the more affordable non pro model I would bet.

Well my question was aimed at the availability - it ws supposed to be in stores this month. Regarding the price, it is quite a resonable one for a monitor with LED backlight and all the other goodies (compared to hp dream color lp2480zx for example).

wow sexy... there's no quote on prices yet however... but if they do this right, this'll be awesome :)

the prices recommended by LG are:

W2420P - 400 euro
W2220P - 260 euro
W2420R - 1600euro

What do you think about LG W2420P ? Will be better than HP 2475w ?

From my point of view, the fact that it has a standard gamut is definitely a plus. And the hp had those uniformity issues: u could get a good panel or a horrible one. Also the LG will be cheaper. So I would say that yes, it will be better. I can hardly wait to get one. :)

Bahh wide gamut overload! just look at that strawberry picture! Red anyone ?

Well considering the Hp has got an LG panel in it i'm not holding out to much hope for this screen, but only time will tell.

I emailed LG Uk and they hadn't got a clue when it would be out. see below.

"We do not at present have any information as to the planned release of this model in the UK. We would respectfully request that you check our website http://uk.lge.com periodically for any updates on release dates of our products.

That is not very revlevant - it will feature a new different panel with a standard gamut.

The dell 2209wa has a standard gamut and a different panel and that has uniformity issues. So as I said only time will tell.

i don't get it, monitor should be out and they don't have info? LOL

I talked to an LG official today and he told me that the W2420P will be available only at the beginning of august. Also, the price from the stores can be significantly larger than the one recommended by LG. That sucks.

It looks like it was indeed too good to be true. I talked again to the LG official and he said that the W2420P was CANCELED. Only the W2220P and the W2420R will be launched. I do not understand why LG didn't announce this.

Did they explain why?

Not really. He only said that they were planning to release W2420P, but it was canceled. No further explanations, just that they will let me know if there will be any changes in this decision. They also attached this image to the email:

^^
the only one I wanted is now canceled. Do we know if any other manufactures are going to be releasing 24" E-IPS monitors?

I would proclaim victory that the 2420P was an E-IPS just like I guessed it would be, but it's canceled so meh. :(

Well the lcd2490wuxi2 is supposed to have one, and it has the same 1000:1 as the w2420p. Same announced release date of June as well.

It seems like technical information is intentionally esoteric as to be only known by an order of engineers at LG Philips LCD, whilst appearing as magic to consumers and all departments closer to the ground than theirs.

Yeah well, I'm tired of waiting and disappointed, I think I'm gonna go for the 2209WA. At least it's cheap and has an eips panel. 24" would have been nice though.

Does it really matter that they canceled the 24"? The 22" is still 1920x1200 right? So it's still a step up over the 2209WA.

Well for comfort of my eyes 1920x1200 is just too much for a 22" screen. For that reason alone I would still buy the 2209WA. But that's just me.
