Gateway XHD3000 30" Monitor w/ speakers Refurb $649.99 + S/H

Gotta love how they proudly proclaim "1920x1200" right below the image of the monitor :)

That is a HOLY **** price. Shipping is reasonable as well.

Damnit, why did this have to come now. Why not like... a month ago? I wonder how much I can Ebay my Planar for...

Anyone know how the anti-glare coating is on it? Is is grainy sparkly like the Dell 3007?

Who cares if it is refurbished? I just got a Samsung 305t refurbished from Canada and it looks brand new no defects.

Sometimes refurbished is better than new..........

And sometimes you should add that into the OP

edit: unless it was already there I dunno it just didn't stand out to me. /shrug

Holy fuck, I do NOT need that - I have FW900s. But the price. Christ.

if you get this get a warranty through the provider or through a third party provider. This is because this model does overheat.

Holy shit.

With Live/Bing Cashback (10.3%), you can get this giant for $583 (before shipping).

Not bad.

Yep it was in the title :).

3 months warranty, though I can't say I've ever had an LCD go of age/defect, and they usually go within the first month or so anyway I gather. I went with a refurb Dell 3007WFP-HC 5 months ago and a 5-year advance exchange warranty for $780 shipped/taxed, and the jump to 2560x1600 is INSANELY nice. The extra detail it brings out in games is just jaw-dropping :D. The only caveat I'd mention on the Gateway is, unlike my display, it has a scaler in it that causes a small amount of input lag (I think 30ms roughly for that model). Do your research then decide... the price is certainly right on this and the panel itself is a good one.

EDIT: I should add for potential buyers, one major sticking point to me was whether it would be too big... I was on a 20" S-IPS panel Dell 2005FPW wide at the time, which occasionally would feel too big :p . In any case, while it's a couple-day adjustment it smooths itself out and then you feel like you can't go back to anything smaller ;).

What a price... it's incredibly tempting as I'm getting a check which is essentially discretionary income in the next week or so. What to do, what to do.

God I'm with you guys. I've been looking at monitor's for the past few days and finally decide what I want and then this deal pops up. Congrats to whoever pulls the trigger.

Already owning a 3007WFP-HC is what's holding me from ordering one...I'm actually more tempted to get 2 2007FP's and run triple-monitor that way...

Pulled the trigger. Unfortunately I won't be home (where I had it shipped) for another month and a half. I'll have to get somebody to receive delivery/test it out for me.

Here's a thread on this monitor. Seems great for this price *if* you don't have issues. Looks like a lot of people did have problems after a while, so if you go for it I'd get a good warranty. Kinda weary of refurbs on these because so many people mentioned returning them after encountering issues. :(

The 3007-HC refurbs weren't much more than this...I wish they would come back for $600!

You'll care when you go through the trouble of unpacking that thing, finding a good spot for that 20lb power brick only to find that half of the display is illuminated (a friends unfortunate experience with a Tiger Direct refurb XHD3000)!

It's a great monitor otherwise! I love mine. Just get the extended warranty!

Actually these have been there for about 4 months now even on the compusa site aka tigerdirect.

Yes that is one of the things that is scaring me about this monitor.
It does have a long track record of many problems.
I guess Im hoping that by the time it gets sold refurbished that they have fixed them.

My only other concern is if TigerDirect gives a 30 day money back guarantee on this monitor?

Anyone know?

Otherwise Im probably better waiting for another 315t which I can get for around the same price.

That god it is currently dead I have bunch of money saved and I would bought this in a second......Even though I have no need for it and already have 2 24's

I am grateful, too, especially because I can't afford it right now. I gotta buy a new case first. This deal being over saved me a lot of money ... and probably a divorce! :p

+1 I was tempted when I saw this deal a few weeks ago, but after reading about this monitor its not worth risking $650 since its a refurb with only a 3 month warranty.

Read the post by the owner of 3 of these monitors:

Its just not worth the risk.

re: 30" desktops

Those of you that have this already.. isn't it a bit large/unwieldy for a desktop? Not being blind I really don't want a massive display so close to my eyes. I have a 24" now and it seems big both in terms of footprint and that I have to space it a bit from my eyeballs. Maybe you have some sort of wall-mount rig that solves these problems. just curious, that's the only reason I've never upgraded to 25x19 res
