Anyone have any info? I want something like the 2209WA but with HDMI, basically.

DVI and HDMI is essentially the same thing with different connectors. You just need an HDMI adapter ($5).

Yep. DVI and HDMI are the same except that HDMI also carries audio. Just get a HDMI to DVI wire and you're golden.

I'm hoping for a 23" (1920x1200) e-IPS from Dell that would sell for $250.

Not that an HDMI port is any indication that a monitor has this feature, but the 2209WA also doesn't do 1:1. That kind of defeats the purpose of using it with any HDMI device.

I can't speak to ALL e-ips panels but my experience with a recent purchase of a 2209wa was not great.

Both my original purchase, and the replacement from Dell both experienced the same problem. There is a uniformity issue on these panels. The left side of both of my monitors was pure white and text, etc. was sharp and bright.

Looking at the screen from left to right it became increasingly darker and "grainy" to the point where the white portions on the right side of the screen had a yellowish tint and there was a graininess to the text, etc..

After some research this was reported on another website by some others. One poster in particular had FIVE 2209wa's all with similar issues. Someone else believed that LG in China was using a poor quality backlight?

I tried different DVI and VGA cables as well as moving the monitors to a few different computers. All with the same results. My current monitors are all TN and have far better uniformity than the 2209wa monitors I received. I don't want to post links to other forums here but if you google 2209wa+uniformity you will get some info+pics.

I will give Dell a 10 on Tech Support and Customer Service. They were EXCELLENT, courteous and professional in every regard. I'd give the 2209wa a 5 based on all the hype on the net about this monitor. Unless I received 2 bad monitors from the same batch (unlikely but possible), than this is inherent in the panel itself. It woudl be difficult for one to use this monitor to do any sort of photoshop work.

Just my experience.

I will be using it for watching video / general usage / and mostly playing games, no photoshop work. Will it still present an issue?

All IPS (LG) screens have uniformity issues in the lines. You see uniformity complaints on NEC 3090, HP 2475, etc..

Then there are human factors, some people notice small differences more readily than others. Kind of like putting to random elements together.

So it is really hard to tell how you will enjoy the screen based on other peoples experience.

I have an NEC 2490 and saw someone complaining about shifting white balance across the screen. Pulled out my calibrator and checked. Sure enough there is a fair and measurable white balance shift across the screen. The thing is I don't see it. So I don't care. Yet someone else could and it bothered them.
