im thinking upgrading my routers to "N" have a wrt54g thats in bridge. and a dlink dgl as a main router. is there any routers that are N capable that are popular for ddwrt ...just like how the wrt54g is/was popular choice for wrt54g

I just picked up a Buffalo WHR-G300N on sale from the egg and it's working great. Normally goes for ~$80, got it for $45 shipped. Don't know if that deal or something similar is still going but I doubt you would be disappointed.

I am running a:

Router Name
DD-WRT
Router Model
Linksys WRT350N

So far, working great!

oh would be nice if it did gigabit...have you installed dd-wrt on yours? was it an easy process? also is draft N still have a possibility of having a final version of N? or draft doesnt mean that?

wow..that router looks like a satelite lol:D is the antenna removable? do you if there are certain version of the router to make ddwrt work on this router?

Antenna is not, but I have seen some hacks. As far as I know, both versions work. Has gigabit and seems to be very stable. With 2 antenna N (laptop only has 2 antennas) I am seeing 139mbs constant.

Whats the speed on it with dd-wrt? I had a airport extreme and couldnt feel and see the difference between it and my ddwrt wrt54g.

I am tired of the constant freezes and bad wireless performance on my D-Link DIR-655 and want to return to a nice DD-WRT router but with gigabit. Does anyone have any experience with DD-WRT on a Linksys WRT310N?

If not the 310N, any other router that the hive mind here can recommend which has gigabit ethernet and draft N?

See my post a couple above yours. They are the most compatible choices.

I read that but $300 for either the 350 or 600 is alot more than I am willing to shell out for a router.

I was thinking the 310 or 610 just because they are cheaper and more available.

Where do you get $300 from? They are discontinued. It should cost a lot less on eBay. Also, the 310 and 610 are not proven dd-wrt compatible just yet, at least not fully.

Amazon shows both used for ~$300.

Ebay prices don't look that much better.

I was hoping someone here had experience with the 310 or 610 with DD-WRT

Check the dd-wrt forums. Support is spotty.

Never buy used from Amazon. Way too much.

I'm using the Netgear WNR834B V2 with DD-WRT. The hardware doesn't support VLANs, unfortunately :(

Sorry it took me a while to respond. I think the draft-N should work with the final spec but I'm no expert. Installing DD-WRT was a breeze, just tftp flashed it right after booting. You have a 2 second window or something like that but as long as you have the tftp command ready just plug the router in and hit enter at the same time, wait for it to reboot and you're good to go.

The coverage is _not_ quite as good as my old WRT54G but then again I haven't mounted it in a proper spot yet and the Linksys had 2 external antennas while this has no externals. I used to get 3 or 4 out of 5 bars on my back porch, probably 35 ft total distance but through several walls, one of which is literally 2ft thick stone foundation. With this router I get between 2 and 3. In the rooms I spend most of my time in I get 5 bars solid and the increase in speed over G is wonderful. Copying DVD isos used to be so slow that I would often just plug in to the router, now I don't have to.

It's not the greatest N router ever but for $40 it works and it runs DD-WRT so I'm content.
