What do you think the most popular graphics ever was?

Geforce 4600
One of the best cards ever made.

Some would argue the Geforce 4200 as you could overclock it like crazy.

Voodoo 3 16 was huge.

ATI 9800 was a beast.
 
As far as ground breaking nothing could ever touch the 9700pro or the Voodoo 2.

Those were the two cards that made people go "wow"!!
 
Geforce 2/4 MX. Those things were freaking EVERYWHERE. Far from the best, horrible little things, but seemed to be shipped in nearly every retail PC once upon a time.
 
I remember seeing alot of Rage128s when they first appeared. And Voodoo2 ++

Most popular which? Sheer number of chips, I'm sure it's one of Intel's IGPs.
Enthusiast class card? Perhaps the 8800 GTX/Ultra.
Architecture? Well the G92 has been rebranded a lot. Then again, they've sold a lot of RV700s.
 
3dfx Monster 3D voodoo 1 4meg. :)

Got the ball rolling. I bought this card JUST to run GL Quake. Very tasty.
 
The Riva TNT series, as it was the first major break away from the 3dfx-owned field.

Thats back when nvidia were the underdogs.

I had a Geforce 4 MX420. Being 12, and coming from an 8MB ATi xPert... The MX420 felt like it was the best card in the world!
 
ATI's Radeon 9700 & 9800 were definitely some of the most popular cards of any period, right up there with the GeForce4 Ti 4200 imo (when NVidia's naming scheme still made some sense :p ). I dunno if the Voodoo cards ever sold as well as any ATI/NV cards from latter days, we still had a lot of non-3D accelerated games (RTS, etc.) by the time 3dfx went belly up.
 
Most popular or most wide spread?

I'd say the G80 core based gpus, particularly 8800 GTX.
 
The original Voodoo? As at the time it had definate wow factor and everyone i know went out and bought one.

The Geforce FX 5200 is one of if not the best selling discreet graphics cards of all time. I know that the Geforce FX 5200 was the most popular card in the Steam Survey for years. Not sure if it still is or not. I kind of doubt it. Plus the Geforce FX 5200 has been sold in retail stores far longer than it should have been which is a testament to its popularity.
 
I would like to see some real numbers on this.

Obviously the Intel IGPs will be make up the majority of the list i would still like to see.

My moneys on one of the cheaper 9700/9800 series excluding intels chips.
 
Maybe not the most popular, but the most wanted card was the 8800 Ultra...

It was the King for a long time...
Longer than my GX2 was. ;)

This.

I'd also add Ti4200 (had one built on a 6 layer pcb that overclocked like mad) and 9700 Pro to the list. Maybe even 8800GT.

This was my second 3D card. I went from the original voodoo to the TNT (skipped the voodoo2). The reason I liked this card is it had nice 2D and 3D in the same card, instead of the vga passthrough like the voodoo1/2 card.

That was a great card too, it would be my second favorite.
 
Voodoo2 or 9700. Considering their times, I think those were probably the two most groundbreaking/popular
 
9800 Pro... I think I paid $250 or more at Bestbuy for mine... >_<

From what I know, it's still running in a computer I sold a buddy...
 
9800pro i remember was really popular. I remember going to compusa with a friend and he got the 256mb version. We played call of duty 1 on high detail with everything cranked lol. He still is running it to this day in that machine.

loved my 4600Ti and also the 9700pro!
 
IIRC the 6600gt set all kinds of sales records and was a damn good card for the price back in the day.
