Asus p5n-e sli and Intel Q9550

Is there any reason why these two components (Asus p5n-e sli and Intel Q9550) shouldn't work together? I just upgraded my CPU from a dual core and I can't get the PC to boot up at all. I popped the RAM and reset the mobo (reset the tiny clip things ;)), but nothing seems to work. When the computer turns on nothing gets hot either, but everything seems to be running. Another thing is I don't hear the loud beep from the mobo when things should be booting up.

Any input would be helpful. Appreciate it!

Time to decide what mobo to get :eek:

My problem was that I assumed my mobo could take quad core AND 1333 FSB, but the real case is it can only take certain quad cores and certain 1333 FSB dual cores....
 
I have installed q9550 on p5n-e sli after bios update to version 1301 and everything works fine.
Don't know if overclocking causes issues I'm not interested in that.
 
have you run any stabilty tests to verify it can run without any issues?

download prime95 and let it run for a while to see if any erros pop up.
 
any ideas to if the 1201 bios works with the q9550? or do you have to get the 1301?
