Hiya d00ds,

Got my winders 7 beta HTPC setup going on an old analog pc. Plan on switching to a new tv possibly over the summer and will intend on other uses then. Was wondering what you all recommend in a wireless keyboard and such. I am thinking I would definitely prefer something that is a one piece keyboard/track or whatever. I looked a bit on newegg, but I trust you all on here a bit better to tell me what would be worth getting. Thanks for any comments guys.

Logitech diNovo Edge. It's a bit pricey (though it can be found on sale every once in a while) but it is an awesome keyboard. Circular trackpad is a bit finicky but it's fine for HTPC use.

Hmm well I did a quick search and looks like they can be had for as low as about $100..I know Logitech makes some good stuff, so worth looking into. That trackpad is a little odd and seems a little small.

Looks like it runs off of bluetooth? Someone mind telling me how this woudl worth as opposed to say, rf?

If you want the sleekish keyboard and mouse combo, you definately can't go wrong with the diNovo Edge. But, at $100 it's not just a bit pricey, it's just down right expensive for a keyboard. It also works just like a RF combo just that BT gets much better range. I use an old Logotech combo and it works fine. It doesn't look as nice, but we just put it under the coffee table shelf. As long as you are within 10-15 feet, most RF's won't have a problem. I watch my shows off of VMC with a remote so a keyboard isn't a neccessity, but if I did need one for everyday use, I'd get the diNovo Edge.

as much as i would like a dinovo, i just cant bring myself to spend that much on a freakin keyboard, especially just for htpc use. ive got a logitech lx710 set for my living room htpc, and a logitech s510 set for the bedroom htpc and both work great for their intended purpose. the only thing they might not cut it with is online gaming......

and personally, i cant stand trackpads and to a lesser extent trackballs. i havent owned a laptop yet, but rest assured the first thing i would buy for it would be a real mouse...........so theres not much point is using any less for my htpc needs.

I am not a fan of trackpads either, my main concern with a mouse is 1) Its an extra item in a living room that usually contains a 20 month old baby, and 2) I'll be using it from my couch or recliner - although with the recliner, I have a coffee table just to the right, so that could work out ok. I mean, would the mouse work ok on like a couch cushion??

Whats the range like on this? I'm assuming it would be fine in a living room.

mine works fine up to about 15ft, and i always use the mouse on couch cushions....works great(again, for htpc use....not for gaming).

Well I don't intend on using it for gaming - right now we only use Media Center but I'd like to be able to minimize than and watch hulu and such, so that would be nice - also we may use it some for email, but I would think this would work well for that. Do you recommend the 710 or the 510?

i like the 710 better, the 510 seems to cut out a little easier(but it is the cheaper model....). plus the 710 has more mouse buttons, which i like.

Check out the PS3 mediaboards.... The cheaper one has a receiver and the more expensive requires you have bluetooth (which you can add for about $5 if you don't already)
