Built a NEW Rig with the following Specs and would like to know if there is one thing I would need to add, what would it be?

ON EDIT: Sorry for not being specific. It was already built and purchased for $950 plus $200 gift card locally with a couple added extras to the system and pre built. Im just looking to see if there was anything. So far the RAM is on the low side. Im using windows 7 RC build x86 right now. Dont plan on jumping to any x64 system until all of my software I use support 64 bit OS which a handful dont, yet!

Wish List:

DIAMOND 4870X2PE52G Radeon HD 4870 X2 2GB 512-bit (256-Bit x 2) GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card
$451.99
Thermaltake Toughpower W0132RU 1000W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Certified 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

OCZ Intel Extreme Edition 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ3X16002GK
$85.99

Seagate Barracuda ES.2 ST3750330NS 750GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
$129.99

SONY Black/Gray 2X Blu-ray DVD ROM SATA Model BDUX10S
$99.99

Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
$109.99

Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80601920
$279.99

GIGABYTE GA-EX58-EXTREME LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard
$328.99

looks good.. but id invest in 3x1gb memory for triple channel.. but dual channel still works fine with the i7.. plus you can still use a 32bit os while having an extra gig of ram and a little more performance.. also i would of spent the extra 10 dollars and grabbed a 6x bluray drive just for the little extra performance and load times.. but thats still a very nice build..

Just to make sure we're on the same page here: You've already bought and built this PC correct? If so when did you buy this setup?

While none of those parts are bad in terms of quality and performance, many of those parts are pretty damn horrible for the price. For example the RAM: For just $8 more, you could have gotten three times the amount of RAM:
$94 - G.Skill F3-12800CL9T-6GBNQ 3 x 2GB DDR3 1600 RAM

Then there's the overpriced mobo, PSU, hard drive and possibly the GPU depending on your resolution. More than likely you could have built a similar rig for at least $200 less.

what danny said.... a lot of overpriced stuff when you can get better for cheaper.

example the corsair hx1000 is like 200-230 bux and better than the thermaltake, then the ran you can get 6gb for about 100 bux, and the price of that seagate hard drive you could get 2 x WD 640GB AAKS drives for that much.

and also... that motherboard is not worth over 300 bux, while some of their 775 boards like the UD3P are good, you'd be sorry having to deal with gigabytes customer service / RMA if something goes wrong. but then again, if 300 bux is nothing to you then go ahead :D

is this a wish list or your order summary? like everyone has said you can get a better or equal build for quite a bit cheaper. as for other things you could get, a regular dvd burner for the faster speeds for things not involving bluray.

Seems he built it already. If there was anything to add, it would be 6 GB of ram. Amazon is having a deal, which is listed in the deal forum here:

http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1406278

I contacted the manufacturer about the absurd delivery estimate from Amazon, and they would honor beyond the 21 day window as long as tracking supported it.

I agree with what others have said; the build could have been built for cheaper, unless it fits your needs.

It was built about 12 days ago and none of the parts were purchased from the egg. I got it all for $950 plus $200 gift card local. I just wanted to show the parts but forgot to edit the price. Sorry about that.

The ram you selected (DDR3 1600) is rated as 7-7-7-24 @ 1.9v. Either that's a typo on Newegg, or something is wrong... You should NOT exceed 1.65v on the RAM. I entirely agree with Danny. For a bit more, you could've gotten 6GB G.Skill kit that runs at 1.5v.

Exactly what I was just about to post. Are you sure you posted the right RAM? I'm surprised 1.9v OCZ RAM is working on there. I also agree with what Danny said.

//edit: I also noticed you got an es2 HDD, effectively the enterprise version of the 'cuda gen 11. Those drives are notorious for faulty firmware; so be sure to check your serial number at the seagate site and flash new firmware if needed -- otherwise your HDD will be bricked without notice if it has the faulty firmware.

Seems like you got a good deal, but not the greatest choices for some of the parts.

Isn't that hard drive configured to be used in a server? PSU is overkill for that system and a ripoff, A Corsair 750/850 is plenty and a 3rd the price. Should've gone with atleast 3gb for tri-channel if not 6gig. I don't know too much about the mobo, but I know Asus boards are great and you could have gotten a P6T/P6T Deluxe for less.

He got the whole system for $950, so it doesn't sound like he paid too much for the overkill PSU -- but it is indeed overkill. I agree on the RAM. You can't go wrong with Gigabyte and Asus X58 boards.
