Bought a G9 mouse, still too small

My hands aren't huge, but I found myself claw gripping my old MX510 and now that I got a G9, I claw grip that too, even with the wide load grip. My hand gets really cold when using it too, I think it has to do with the bulk of my palm being mashed against the mouse pad. What is a good mouse that is bigger than the G9 and that I could probably use normally? Any help would be terrific.

Have you tried the G5? A friend of mine has the G9 but I like mine better. I can take a pic of them side-by-side later if you'd like. I might be wrong, but it seems like my G5 is longer.

maybe slap your mit down on a M$ sidewinder.. it's fairly large and comfy to boot.

You can try the MX518. Same size as the G5, but cheaper and it doesn't come with the weights.

You hand getting cold could be the start of something worse than a small mouse. (Hands get ICE cold while playing games for long periods of time.)

The biggest mouse I've used is the Razer Lachesis... it was so big I had to return it & bought the Logitech G9. Now the G9 is my preferred mouse. =)

If anything, I recommend the Lachesis to the OP.

You might like the MS Sidewinder mouse. It's large toward the back, and stretches out quite a way frontward and flat. My hand sits pretty flat on it. It's fairly ridiculous looking, but it gets the job done.

Love the sidewinder...I have large hands, an it is VERY comfy. :)

I normally don't like pitching a sale in random threads, but I have a sidewinder mouse which I am not using and will likely never use again.. PM me if anyone is interesting in buying it. it's in perfect pristine condition.

My hands are huge and I like the g9 with small grip. I use high sensitivity with the massive dpi and fingertip control, my palm hardly ever moves.

Stop buying logitech and you wont have this problem, they tend to be small from my experience. Try a Razer Deathadder ;)

this is why I stopped using logitech mice, they were always too small for me. So far the only mouse I use anymore is the Microsoft intellimouse optical. Its the only one that fits my hand well and my Lefty status. (which makes mouse buying even harder)

I have big hands too and use 2 mice. MX518 for gaming and Logitech Marble Trackman for everything else. Trackman is huge and more comfortable than any regular mouse. It's just not as precise and fast for gaming with and is why I have the MX518 too.

I would kinda stay away the Lachesis, even after flashing the newest 1.91firmware I was actually experiencing the dreaded "cursor drift" even more often than when I was on the 1.64 firmware. Not to mention it sometimes felt far too sensitive, i just click the button and not even more it, and it slowly starts drifting the pointer upwards, they have recommended some pretty outrageous solutions, i.e. removing the sticker surrounding the laser sensor and even lowering the DPI, why buy a 4000dpi mouse if i can't use it at that setting?. I swapped it with my G9 and i'm MUCH happier.

Also considering the Mamba, it's just the horrendous price point that's keeping me away from it.

I liked the deathadder but the drivers were just too buggy for 64 bit. It ended up breaking on me and I picked up the Sidewinder. It's a little too big for my hands, but I love the feel of it. The thumb buttons are much to far forward for easy use.

I use the DA on vista64 and never loaded the official drivers for it.. but it still works great with the m$ drivers..

People who palm their mice really need to stop buying G9s. I don't understand how people can look at it and not think they're going to be cramping their hand trying to palm and claw at the same time.

It's not even a question of hand size. Either you use your palm (for support or control) or you don't. You could have a semi-small hand and still be uncomfortable palming the G9.

I just tried my friend's G9 with the wide thing on and my whole palm was on the mousepad too. I can deal with that (gaming with my Logitech VX Nano is like holding a gumball in my hand) but the G5 is a lot better. I'd try it out at bestbuy if I was you.

I wonder when that new sidewinder is gonna hit. I've been wanting to get my hands on it but I can't find it freaking ANYWHERE.

i'll agree with that it's the biggest mouse out there but you have to get use to it. At first I hated it. After a month of force feeding it to myself I like it now for the most part.

The Logitech MX1100 is a great mouse , pretty big ... i use both the deathadder & MX1100 ... love em

Have someone used G9 for FPS playing? How is going on Quake 3 and CS? Since it is laser the MX1000 needs to be lift very high to stop to work? Anyone?

Man I thought my hands were huge, I am currently 6'4" and have been able to palm a basketball since 8th grade.

I picked up the G9 looking for a huge mouse to fit my hand, and initially fond G9 to be too small/awkward. After using it for a month or two and changing my hand position/grips I can say it is near what I am looking for. By using the wide grip and letting my fingers hang over the front of the mouse to the fingernail, I no longer hold it by 'claw' and it fits perfectly into the curve of my hand. I fond placing my fingers slightly over the front allows the mouse sensitivity adjustment to be easily adjusted.

Great mouse when it works. Mine died after 2 months. Will never by another Razor.

I currently use the MX1000, and have been for a few years, now.
I purchased the G9, and hated it. The size is smaller than the MX1000, but definitely tolerable. My main gripe with the G9 was the removable grips: every time I would lift the mouse for movement I would press too tight that the grip would press both the left-side buttons.
I bind all my mouse buttons for other uses, and this would be such a pain in the ass when playing FPS because my weapons would switch when I gripped the mouse too tight. Then again, maybe it's just me.
Other than that, I wouldn't have minded the G9. I do love my MX1000, though.

To each their own. I've tried replacing mine, but keep coming back.
Either way, I would suggest staying away from the G9 for FPS. The G5 or the MX5xx series would be good alternatives.

I've never had the problem you're describing with pressing on the grips and lifting on the G9, nor have I ever heard or read about it from anyone else.

ive never seen a mouse that fits my hands... theyre all fingertip control mice. all of them.

Hmmm... I always thought the "claw" was proper. Fingertip control allows for finer control than palming your mouse and moving your whole arm.

So that leaves me wondering - What's "normal?"

Or you can try the ID Grip for the G9. Apparently more palm support. But I like performance grip.

I like my G9... not sure how you would activate the side buttons by pressing the grip.

What is wrong with using it for FPS games? Just adjust the dpi setting.

Best mouse I have ever had.

But yeah, kinda small if you have huge hands.

you talk about the claw grip like it's a bad thing! :p Go with it - it really should improve your performance.

I have huge hands, so I pretty-much claw grip all mice by default. If the mouse is too long, I find it running into my palm on the desk every now and then, restricting my downward movement, so I've come to prefer smaller mice, because with the claw grip it gives you the maximum range of movement.

I haven't tried a ton of different mice, just logitech for me: G5, G9, MX310 etc. And the G9 is definitely the best claw grip mouse I've used. Once I really understood the mechanics of my use, I even switched to the smaller grip for the G9, which did help a little. I decided I wanted a little more grip, so I could hold it with finger-tips with minimal effort, so I also modded my G9 precision shell with grip-tape (cut some dry-wall sand-paper to shape & attached w/ super glue) - think I may have created the ultimate claw-grip mouse - working great for me so far.
