I did. Games almost like the demo, just tweaked. For a console game, it looks outstanding, fluent between the cutscenes and game.

Not going to. Demo made it feel exactly like RE4 with a new skin put on it. Reviews are giving the same impression. No thank you. I hate those controls and I didn't like RE4 anyway.

plan to pick up my ce later. no midnight launch at my store either, although i'm too lazy to go down even if it did heh.

While that is true, people still love GTA4, which is essentially a skin of GTA3. :p

I like the stories in games so a when a game feels like its predecessor, it just makes it easier to pick up and play.

GTAIV is A LOT different than GTA3. Which of course has a lot to do with why I didn't enjoy it as much as the 3 trilogy.

Hmm I'll wait and see what happens with all this run&gun patch for RE.
Besides it looks more like a bargain bin game.

Man, I can't believe theres so many people against this game. I've been an RE fan since 1999 when my aunt gave me RE1 and 2 because my cousin kept pissing the bed and this game looks like it should be good, maybe not as good as RE4 but still good.

I didn't like RE4 so that pretty much signals my dislike of RE5. Beyond that its nearly the same game as its five year old predecessor, thats just stupid. They couldn't fix the controls in five years? They couldn't code half-decent AI in five years? They couldn't add the ability to move while shooting?

I never really had a problem with RE4, infact it got me completely back into RE. Sure, the controls aren't perfect, but its better then dealing with RE1 controls. (Which I personally hated)

The game still delivers surprises and some horror. But like I said before, I'm playing for the story, I liked how RE4 took you to random places in Europe.

I'm about to go pick up mine and I'm very pessimistic. I just don't think it's going to have the creepy feel of the past games but we'll see; I'm not picky so I'll probably enjoy it either way.

I went back and tried to play with RE1 Remake and could barely move the player around the screen, heheh. I used to be able to manage those controls.

I loved RE4 and the controls are *gasp* THE SAME. I'm not sure I like the locale as it feels a lot less creepy, but I'm still getting the game on my lunch break. If the partner AI sucks, I'll see if my wife can take over.

I'll give you better than RE1, like 100x better. Doesn't mean they're good. The problem is now with RE5 it looks like they've gone totally to an action/shooter style game. That kind of game shouldn't have survival horror controls. Dead Space should have showed Capcom how to do RE controls right. Dead Space's controls were perfect. If Dead Space, Gears, and Uncharted hadn't come out in the five years since RE4 I might be more forgiving of its controls, but Gears changed the way people look at these titles. RE5 should have changed with the times. Its one thing for games to stay similar over a long time if the things they don't change are perfect, or at least very good, but RE5 needed to evolve the controls. At least Capcom has said that RE6 will be something totally different so we'll see how that goes.

I'd have to agree with this. Shacknews has a pretty damning review fully supporting this claim. http://www.shacknews.com/featuredarticle.x?id=1085.

Zombies with machine guns? Lame. Seeming removal of a lot of the horror elements and scenery? LAME. Those 2 are dealbreakers for me I think. I liked RE4 a lot too.

They're not zombies though. Unless zombies appear later in the game, that is.

I never played any RE games, hehe but if I had not picked up a PS3 this past xmas then I would have bought that nice red xbox in the RE5 package.

to be fair resident evil is about virus that makes people go insane not zombie itself
that's why original title is biohazard not zombie apocalypse

The original Resident Evil was also called Biohazard and it too was based off of a virus.

having not played any RE game before, after playing the demo i knew i wasn't going to buy this game, i hate the controls and i found the helper chick dumb to. but i think you need to be a fan of the series to enjoy this one.

I liked some of the other RE games. Played the demo of this, and about 45 seconds in I absolutely hated everything about it. Not buying it.

and you also need a friend to co op

that maybe true for some but not being able to move and shoot, is a deal killer for me, but if you are a fan of the series and are used to it and like it then i am sure this is a great game. just not for me.

It seems like a lot of fun so far my only issue is im already at 3-1, is this game really that short compared to RE4? Id be pretty disappointed if so :-(

Yeah the reviews have said its shorter than RE4.

Thats why I'm playing it on the harder mode.

Also DLC is now possible.

Considering they're charging $5 for versus mode because they've "never included multiplayer in previous games", I'm not holding out hope on good DLC.
