I can't read any of the helpful tips that show up during level/area loads in Fallout 3 because the levels load too quickly.

=P

LOL - play city of heroes

no matter how fast your system you can still see the crap tips ! :)

I LOLed! Thanks. :) I dare you to call Intel tech support and file a complaint. That would be a funny prank call.

Now try running some old DOS games that were tied directly to CPU speed. I bet your monitor would explode :D.

Nah, My GTX 280 (top) would just squeel like it's going to explode and break all glass in the room

Use the turbo button on the front of the computer to slow it down...

HAHA! Classic... what an idea by IBM...

Oh yeah, those turbo overclocks were massive. Going from 33Mhz to 66Mhz with a touch of a button... whoooo... pure, raw speed and 100% overclocks.

you laugh, but when I first fired up FarCry2 my first complaint was " aww, I didn't get to read the 3 sentence story at the bottom"

If you can reproduce that problem on my pentium 4 I'd be more than happy to help petition intel.

You guys do realize that i7 does have a TURBO mode/function?

I have it turned on, but it's basically oc'd the CPU by about 10% from what I've seen. I'm sure others here know exactly what it does. My original post of course was a joke just because most of the games have been loading so quickly that I don't get to read any of the quick-tips in the loading screens. I don't think I could slow this CPU down enough to gain some time...

LoL.
Funny.

I gotta try that out once I find a good X58 motherboard :p

It's a bit more complicated than that. BTW, why did you turn it off? Kinda buffles me, since this is one of upgraded features over the previous gen...

You won't, there's no such thing...

lol, are you saying good ones don't exist?
Cause I think there are some decent ones out there. :D

Decent ones - yeah, I agree but they all have issues. Bleeding edge, as it were, i7/x58 is too new and not all the kinks were worked out, unfortunately. Once refreshes arrive, there'll be the 'great' mobos, finally.

the no wait times in FO3 really makes it a much better experience. I guess I never even noticed there were funny things to read there.....

Make sure after you beat the game, you restore and go on a murderous rampage through all the towns. Fun for the whole family.

Turbo, from my understanding, Increases your base multiplier on one of the cores by 1x. IE, the 920 goes from 20x to 21x on core 1 when turbo is turned on and the CPU is under load.

That's per Intel spec, and some of the mobo manufacturer's followed that, others exploit it through the bios, so that the 21x is always on, on all four cores when in turbo

I'm making my way through as an ultra-good savior of all right now, but I'm probably going to play it through again being as evil and exploiting as many as possible. I just don't want to kill all the quest givers yet. =)
