I just got that motherboard and during CPU installation noticed that has two missing spring clamps of the heat-pipe system. Do I need to ignore this (I can take from an old graphics card fan) or go for RMA?

I got the open box ASUS P5Q Deluxe and had the same problem
but i lucked out because they were still in the bag

I know this is a stupid question but did you look ? :D

IMO newegg sell open items as new...Out of the last three boards I bought (new) two were used one had cigarette ashes in user manual other had AS5 around the CPU socket I returned both. I would return it and request advance replacment with shipping over night...they will do it..if its Newegg

I just got an MSI Eclipse board from Newegg that had a broken off spring clamp plus one of the capacitors was broken off the board. this was Open Box however.

You would think they would quality check that kind of stuff.

Was it new or open box?

Personally, I'd just use the ones you have from your graphics card as you can always remove them if you decide to RMA. Might as well see if it works first.

I've never had a problem with that. Everything I've bought as new was factory sealed.

this would not suprise me, if a item is returned as a reg return and the buyer takes a -15% restock fee they figure the item works and resale it... retail stores do this all the time. if its returned in working order open or not. its taped up and put back on the shelf.

Unfortunately no, but I put spring clamps from an old nVidia gfx card and called ASUS to order spare. I hope to get them soon.
