Work completed today:

Removed all the original heat shrink and sleeving from the HX1000
in order to individually sleeve all the wires. I will be using
the double staple method to remove all the pins. I've used it before
and been very successful with it.

power supply.jpg

Installed the 2 HD's in the first HD bay and removed the second bay.

IMG_2902.JPG

Also removed all case fans, and header cables for sleeving.

Planning on running another GTX-285 in SLI and Water Cooling in the very near future. Check back daily for more pics and updates.

That is one of my favorite cases... Looks like you're off to a good start. Subscribed.

I arrived home from school today to find this box waiting in front of door :p

everything unpacked

motherboard unpacked

The amount of cables provided is just awesome.

IMG_2921.JPG

Mobo outside of the package. The quality is just awesome,
I gotta give props to EVGA, this mobo is great.

IMG_2926.JPG

This cooler is just gigantic.

IMG_2929.JPG

this should be good enough until I get my water cooling setup going
in 1-2 months :p

First step, install CPU

IMG_2936.JPG

IMG_2939.JPG

Next, goes the HSF base

IMG_2943.JPG

Next is the actual heatsink, the quality is a serious step above my
old zalman cooler.

IMG_2945.JPG

IMG_2946.JPG

Just a dallop of thermal paste. I had some AS5 but decided to go with
the supplied paste from Noctua, per the advice of some others.

IMG_2947.JPG

On goes the heatsink. This was so much easier than the Zalman to install
its not even funny. They could learn a lot.

IMG_2948.JPG

Another angle of the heatsink installed so you all can see just how
big it is.

IMG_2951.JPG

Here is a shot of the memory installed.

IMG_2952.JPG

My test bed, lets fire this baby up!

IMG_2969.JPG

Im using my old 8800gts for the time being. My gtx-285 should be here tomorrow :)

ITS ALIVE!!!

IMG_2964.JPG

It auto detects @ 1066 for some reason. But I was able to set it too 1600 in the bios
without any problems.

One hiccup, my raptor decided to die on me for some reason. Which means I either have to use my 7200.11, take one of the TB green drives out of my HTPC or order a new raptor. Money is a bit tight atm, with all the new purchases. But if I can find a deal
for a decent hard drive I will pick one up. I should be installing the OS tomorrow. Stay tuned for more details. Thanx for reading.

looks good, i generally dont like things in 3s

i like even numbers :)

but i like

3 PCIe 16, 3 DDR3 channels and such

With a build like this, youve got to sleeve those cables. Ive got a similar setup, and when it was put together i hated the sight of the power supply cables i couldnt hide, so i went to wal mart, the automotive section, got some zip ties and plastic cable sleeves and started at, makes it look more sleek.

Umm, what? No sh.. Sherlock. :D Seriously though, looks keen... Looking forward to updates.

Also def gotta give props to EVGA for the power and reset buttons directly on the board. That is a NICE feature.

This came today:

Now all I need is my sleeving pack and I can actually get this thing together, hopefully that will come before the weekend.

Might have manufacturer's warranty from original manufacturing date, worth checking with WD. Worst case you get denied.

+1. They're usually pretty good about this. And this is definitely subbed. You've purchase all the parts I have in my wishlist :D

this came yesterday afternoon, gotta give a thanks to charles and murdermod for getting this out so fast.

this is awesome, I just got all the sleeving for my V1000Z and I'm gonna be doing almost the exact same build as you this weekend!

Subbed.

Looks great so far!

Can't wait to get my hands on a full size Lian-Li, but I love my A05 for the time being.

I pretty much have the same system as you except my case is the V1000B Plus II so the motherboard is flipped. This has caused a lot of problems since the Noctua NH-U12P hits the divider, preventing me from building the system. It hits the divider because the EVGA x58 socket is not centered, and now I am forced to either get a new motherboard, a new heatsink, or a new case. I really wish I had just gotten the V1000Z but I didn't for fear of my 300GB Velociraptor not working.

Just curious, but why sleeve each individual wire? It must be for the look. I can see it being more flexible. Nice looking build so far. Subscribed.

This thing is pretty much completed, atleast for the next month and a half until I get some more money to finish. I will get some shots up for you guys soon. However I am a little worried about the prospects of doing what I wanted with this case. Everything is a much tighter fit than I had anticipated. Fitting an entire water cooling setup in here may not be in the cards. Atleast not while making it look the way I wanted it too. I had originally considered a TJ07 but went with this because I felt the TJ07 had been done too many times. Now I am beginning to see why, space really is an issue, im not sure what to do.:(

Am I the only one who thinks that the colours of the HSF's fans are absolutely hideous?

Other than that it looks fine :D

You gotta compromise somewhere when you're getting the best :D

Nice build xveganx. Dead on with everything that I've planned on getting, including the CPU cooler. And while I'm not a big fan of the "dreads" style sleeving, I absolutely love the sleeved SATA cable.

ummm they are some of the best fans out. Besides its all gonna get replaced with water cooling in april.

Haha gotta love Noctua. I had those fans in my old case though, performed amazingly.

I don't know what you're talking about, brown is a great color;)

Brown? I'd say closer to flesh-coloured. Combined with white...

Seriously, whoever came up with that colour scheme must have been colour blind @_@

Absolutely love the PC. And, especially love the Swans /swoon <3

Lovin the sleeve job. I hate that the Murdermod sleeving kit is half the price of my power supply.

edit: did you have any left over from the 100' of sleeving that came with the kit? I'm trying to figure out if i can get away with just the 50' kit.

Looks fantastic, personally I would mount that monitor on the wall or atleast to the desk. also i would lose the wheels on the case if it were staying up on the desk.

Great parts, good look. Grats!

Very nice build man.

+1 on mounting the monitor up somewhere. Besides that everything looks way clean.

Ive been planning on wall mounting it, im just waiting to get some more cash. I don't put things on credit! ;)

Looks great! Not sure what I think about the individually sleeved cables. Sometimes they look perfect, other times they look a bit too bulky. Still a vast improvement over unsleeved though, that is for sure.

The 3-pin near the hsf is dying to be sleeved though. =)
