NVIDIA ForceWare 182.08 is out

Doesn't look like there should be much difference performance-wise...

What’s New in Version 182.08
• Added support for GeForce GTS 250.
•This driver version adds support for NVIDIA PhysX acceleration on all GeForce 8-series, 9-series and 200-series GPUs with a minimum of 256MB dedicated graphics memory (this driver package installs NVIDIA PhysX System Software v9.09.0203).
•See “Changes in Version 182.08” on page 5 for a list of resolved issues in this release.

•GeForce 200 Series, GeForce 9800 GTX: Photoshop CS4– Brush cursors do not appear correctly as you increase the brush size. [440635]

From 182.05 to 182.08 my Crysis test went up slightly from 49.77 to 49.81 fps.
Crysis Warhead crashes as it is about to start. It ran half a test once (out of many tries) and crashed, so no go for Warhead.
3DM05 went from 22,272 to 22,373

.04 fps and you're attributing that directly to a new driver? That seems a bit obsessive... :D

Could be more attributable to the system just being able to do better when playing the game for a few seconds to get that small of an increase, who knows... I mean, I'm just saying, I know us [H]ard folk are somewhat obsessive about some performance aspects, but four-hundreths of a frame per second? :)

Well within the margin of error -- anything less than ~2 FPS can be readily attributed to differences in background process activity, memory access patterns and the like.

People take it too far. I'm with you there.

No compelling reason to install them for my 8800 GTX (that I just installed the 182.06 set for a few weeks ago).

Yup Was thinking this myself 182.06 is the best set i have had for my 8800GTS 512 SLI setup, see no reason to change. DOWII runs nice and smooth in 1920x1200 and so does WoW :)

Was there a list of SLI profiles changed anywhere?

Dude, dont start arguments for no reason.
I posted the results I got, that is all.

I didnt infer any reasons.
Read my post again and dont make things up!

I think a deviation that small (< 1fps) will be seen from run to run on the same drivers.. anything can cause that.. extra background tasks, etc..

Looks like just some photoshop fixes with this release? I guess I will pass..

Looks like it's just the update for The GTS 250. Had to do a driver install anyway so I installed it, no issues atm.

can anyone say whether this driver fixes some cards downclocking during games? my gtx285 currently is crashing cod4 and i suspect it is because of downclocking. I have 182.06 atm.

I installed a new HDD as my OS drive and installed 182.08 on it. I found that there are some issues with flickering with Creative Audio console and Asus Probe and moving windows up and down fast leaves behind a trail longer then it should. I booted up my older HDD with 182.06 on it and it didn't have the issue. So I switched back to 182.06 and the issue is gone.

Mine crashes in-game, with my screen turning different funky (solid) colors even after a reboot. Only a power off/on will fix it. No other games do this...

Thats even stranger than mine, I hope your card is ok.

another update
updating these drivers is like updating a virus database of an anti-virus :(
anyway, downloading :D

I cannot get them to install. I have tried everything I can think of, but when I run the installer, it just says System not modified and asks me to reboot. I uninstalled them and reinstalled 181.20 and also 182.06 just fine, but these will not install for some reason.

Could you post a picture of that error message? I've never heard anything like that before for any software.

Sounds like the installer is corrupted. Re-download it and try again.

I downloaded it 5 times...from 3 different places. Same thing everytime. The odd thing is, it still shows in the list of drivers when I click on the device manager and check properties. I tried erasing it and then reinstalled the 181 drivers and they installed just fine. I then reinstalled 182.06 over those and they worked fine. Tried to do 182.08 and same thing.

The message is just the standard Nvidia installer, except at the end it says

Installshield wizard complete
The system has not been modified. To install this program at a later time, run the installation again. Then it asks me to reboot.

bug?

Hmm, well I guess I can install the new ones...but I don't really need to as of now, so I guess I will just chalk it up to a bug and wait for the WHQL certified ones.
