NASA is Making an MMO

This doesnt look to be a "game" as we have come to define the word. IMO, this is more of a prototype "gamebased" simulator which gathers info from the players as they complete tasks so that they (NASA) can build upon that knowledge of gathered info for future endeavors into space. What could be a better candidate for future missions to the Moon, Mars, etc than a "training game" which teaches the fundamentals of what would be expected, to the youths of today for tomorrows Astronauts.

The problem here is, is that todays youths as well as other gamers of, eh hmm, later years, heh...have come to expect much better graphics and "gameplay" than what is presented in that sites screen shots. I wouldnt expect to see many people, young or older to be playing this at all. It would have been a better idea for NASA to have had a well known game developer create the game they were trying to accomplish.

I'll probably play with it... It might fulfill my childhood dream of being an astronomer!

Although in retrospect this "game" will proabably cost twice as much as originally budgeted for and not perform to spec. :p

I'd play it just to fly the shuttle. I miss a good space sim like that since Apollo 18.

With the money NASA has you think they could license the UT3 engine or something. Oh there an engine part blew up there goes 25mil.

NASA and "good graphics" are just not something that you would ever expect to by synonymous.

They did. But instead of develop actual content, they're using their "I can't believe it's not 1993" demo renders.

wow... with the money nasa has you would think they would do something worth paying our fucking taxes for. a videogame?!? i say learn how to handle and stop jacking one planet before moving on... like it would happen to begin with.

Astronauts wont always be like they are, sometime in the near future they might be normal workers.. Might get to see some of their ideas for that take place in game, might be neat. I'd give it a shot and I'm sure other nerds would nerd it up.

Federally funded space agency developing videogames while their rockets crash to earth before reaching space.
Why is there a recession again?

IIRC a shady contractor was actually responsible for the launch and not NASA. All these contractors in sensitive jobs are the problem. They are accountable only to the shareholders, not the people.
