I found this card at my local Staples priced down to $71.99

I didn't snatch it up because I wasn't sure if that was a good deal.

I currently have a MSI X800 and it's been good to me but wouldn't mind an upgrade especially if it's to be had for a good price. I see this card has a TV tuner, HDMI, and what seems to be onboard DVD encoding.

So how does this card compare to my existing card and is this a good deal?

Current card is the MSI X800

If the TV tuner is important to you get the one at Staples, but if you want the best 3D performance for your $80 then get the HD4830 as mentioned earlier.

Agreed. All in wonder cards are a little gimped compared to their "normal" brothers. Plus right now you really cant beat a 4830 for the price.

Didn't get that card, the price was for the regular 3650, not the AIW. They wanted $90 for the AIW so I passed

the hd4830 is way way way way faster than the 3650. Night and day, playable and slideshow.

Yep, a 4830 would be the way to go.

Maaan, I paid 500 for my 4870x2 and a crossfire 4830 woulda kept me happy for a long time. Then again, I'm not going to get rid of it :)

Cool, thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm close to pulling the trigger on a MSI HD 4830 OC, the other card i'm considering is the Sapphire HD 4830.

Yep, that's the one I was looking at. Seems like one hell of a card especially for the price. I remember when I got my current card back in 05, it was $75.

wow thats not a great price for a 4830. if u wanna spend $120ish like the link u posted, better off going with the asus top 4850 instead. not to mention the asus is factory oced a little, and free shipping, whereas ur msi does not include free shipping.

Haha, read my thread. The 4830 they are talking about was $89.99 yesterday. Newegg just increased the price recently, literally a few hours after I ordered.

Atleast you didn't miss out on saving some money. Great that you placed your order before they raised the prices back.

The MSI I posted is only $85 after MIR and I get Rainbow6 Vegas2

The ASUS you posted is $135 after MIR + tax and shipping and no game.

I think the MSI not only fit my budget, but also fits my needs better than the ASUS, not to mention the MSI card is also factory OC and can be OC even further

The MSI 4830 is a great card, I would certainly pick it over the Sapphire version. There's a great review of it here you may wish to read through if you haven't seen it already.

There's some confusion that happened in the thread. When Specialist[X], the person you're quoting posted, that MSI 4830 was $128.99. That's why he said it wasn't a good deal, Newegg dropped the price again soon after he posted.

Thanks for the review link.

My card and game shipped out Wednesday, the card from Tennessee, the game from SoCal. The game arrived today, card is expected Monday. I can't wait!

Makes sense now, thanks for the clarification.
