Thanks, I'll give these a go.

Hopefully it'll be better than the 181.20 drivers as this caused major stabilty issues with Fallout 3.

On the other hand we go no OpenGL 3.0 games...

Well since I'm using the 182.05's...

{edit}

read the changes, and its not worth it atm. Maybe when I reinstall windows.

I have the .05's too.
Playing FEAR 2 and L4D. No problems for me, so I will probably wait, too.
Downloaded these, tho. It's an obcession

Worth getting off the 185.20s? I love those drivers. Don't know if I want to change.

Well, I'm hoping that it means OpenGL is fixed UP TO 3.0.

I'm going to find out tomorrow, but I'm interpreting it as opengl is now functional in vista 64 and w7 AND that "full" support now means that trss and hq filtering work with it.

I hope I'm not going to wind up disappointed, but I'm prepared to be, however.

Looked at the release notes and the only change noted between 182.05 Beta and 182.06 WHQL is ...

Single GPU Resolved Issues

GeForce 9800 GTX/GX2/GT/GTX+, GeForce 8800 GTS/GT/GS: The system hangs when switching between performance states. [516808]

That's interesting. I wonder if by "switching between performance states" meant the changing clock speed

My 9800GTX+ has been crashing with driver 180 and above when I play videos

Probably worth a try for me

no problems here yet. played some l4d, bf2, and burnout paradise. all good on this end

I don't know what games even use openGL anymore. The last game that used it was quake 4 i think. And if you are thinking this, then no, prey was not an openGL game

Mine hadn't been crashing with 178.24.

I installed these, hoping they'd solve the issue and I'd be able to start using updated drivers again. Shortly after, I had my first crash since I installed 178.24

I recommend 178.24 for now if you're having trouble with your 9800gtx+ doing that full-screen checkerboard thing.

I'm having trouble with these on my 8800GT. My previous drivers were the 181.20's and they seemed fine. But these new ones seem to cause the fan to stick at 31%, causing massive overheating (109 C for the GPU) when running F@H's GPU client. Rolled back to 181.20 in order to get the fan working again.

Anyone else have fan problems with 8800 series? the 181.20 were the first set in ages with controlpanel working fan control.

Ah, yes, that's exactly what I am experiencing . It crash with checkerboard thing filling up the screen

Thanks for mentioning this. Saves me the trouble with this driver 182

178.24 for me then.

Been playing Fallout 3 on an 8800 GTX and the performance is good. I'm able to max all quality sliders and options at 1680x1050 with 4X AA and 8X AF and still get smooth framerates. A few driver sets back (when the game was first released) it would get a bit choppy on those settings at times.

Previous drivers didn't downclock for me either. /shrug. This isn't new with this release.

this driver has the same fix for lotro's DX10 dynamic shadows as 182.05 did... in case anyone was wondering.

Previous WHQL driver would not downclock my (one) EVGA 280 SC, Beta one did, so is this one, works great :)
