I’m not sure if you guys have had a chance to see this video yet but, if you haven’t, you really need to. Two brothers have made a series of short films based on Half-Life that mixes game footage with live-action shots for an overall impressive fan-based movie. Watch the 5 minute movie and tell me what you think.

If they had a 100 million dollar budget it could be a good movie...I am surprised none have been made from the Half Life series.

And I hope they don't. I can't remember a good video game based movie that was good enough to watch.

I'm hoping the new Street Fighter movie will be good enough, but my hopes are low for it.

Watching the combine soldiers get owned by the nade was classic. Very well done, if only the res was better.

If you read they say that Valve flew them out to seattle... With editing like that, I could seriously see a feature-length movie come out.

Great stuff. Makes me wanna re-install HL2 and get nasty with the Combine. These guys will get sued for copyright infringement OR end up in Hollywood as highly paid directors... maybe both. :p

"Additional Notes:

Valve flew the team out to Seattle last year, and the brothers have been in communication with them since"

They had permission.

Great stuff as short it was.

The only bad acting I saw was when the guy said "I don't like walking". That was pointless and could of been cut.

That...was...sweet.

Hints of Terminator with a dash of the Matrix.

A full feature needs to be made, and I bet it would do very well at the box office.

Wondered when we'd see this here

great fan made movie, probly one of the best, if not the best, on a sub 500$ budget

Valve says the made the first two episodes with a 500$ total budget, and the CG is very good for average joe stuff

anyone watch their coke commercial? crazy

Oh, I missed that part. All the better, because that means we'll see more. :)

I think it was fantastic except for those two actors who i thought were terrible. I love the animation and the blood from the gunshots, that was pretty cool. I think a GOOD movie could definitely be made from HL. We can only hope.

You're probably comparing their performances to ones in big budget Hollywood flicks or prime time TV. Compared to low budget indie films or even soap operas, their performances were decent -- not outstanding, not terrible, just decent. Since this was on a $500 budget, I'd say they did a pretty good job. The directors were likely only able to get a couple of takes per shot at most.

I liked it and will continue to look forward to other good stuff coming from them. An HL2 movie would be interesting.

the asian looking dude needs to S L O W down and AR-TIC-U-LATE.

Really good effort. Certainly promising. The acting could be refined, and the gunfire sparks were gaudy. Really good blood-spatter for most of it.

Yea they did a pretty good job making that. Acting could have been better for even an indie film but overall the effects were good.

What amazing movie, but it puts hollywood to shame, haha. If they make a HL2 movie, they better get these guys to direct or produce it.

It was very well done. If these guys did a full featured film, it could be pretty kick-ass.

the recent max payne flick did pretty well at the box office, and i found it rather enjoyable, if slightly confusing.

as for the halflife one, looked pretty good. im particularly digging the chick at the end, can't say i don't enjoy girls firing weapons. unfortunately, the plot seemed kind of... barren... seemed like it was mostly to show off the special effects and the cg segments. luckily, for a first episode, this can be overlooked.

Hearing the player death tone every single time anyone was shot in the video actually ruined it for me. It just went from appropriating what was needed to make the story consistent with the game to throwing in much more than was actually needed. I don't know why just this one little sound bothered me so much, but it did.

That's Half Life 2 though, when you kill a combine their radio (or whatever) squeals. I think they were trying to stay true to the game.

Absolutely fantastic job. Better than most recent movies XD.

This reminds me of that live action Metal Gear Solid fan film that was made. Personally, I liked the acting in that one better than this, but this is still very good.
