Newegg open box Asus P5Q Pro $69.99

.....Meh.

retail sells for about 125 bux and is the most popular p45 board up there with the gigabyte ud3p, so go 'meh' in someone elses thread.

i got accessories with the few open box boards ive ordered from them in the past, guess i was just lucky ?

As far as I know, newegg's open box MB doesn't come with any of the accessories. In that case.... meh +1

Meh +2. Buy an openbox mobo for your enemy, not yourself/friends/family.

Most of the time you don't even get the I/O plate. I know that's not a big deal to some, but I like my systems to look nice and not have holes and gaps, especially when I'm making it for someone else.

But still, guys. Shoot. A P5Q Pro for $70?? That's pretty rockin.

so you order the i/o shield for $10 at the ASUS estore, that's still a damn good board for $80...

That would be great except for the fact that you can get a new or like new board with everything included on the used forums for the same amount of money or less.

I bought it 2 weeks ago to replace my P5Q Pro that died with my Power Supply. Nothing came with it but I already had the accessories so I was cool.

Different board I must say, harder to overclock than my first.

Open boxes from Newegg are a bit of a lottery thing. Some come with all accessories, some come with nothing. I've seen people get totally new in box items. Crapshoot pretty much

I heard somewhere that all Asus open box boards at newegg are from manufacturer RMA and will never include accessories.

Open box hey...

Well I guess the guy before you really didn't know what he was doing that's why your going to be able to make it work???

Oh right they were RMA'd, so the guy did know what he was doing... LN2'ed it with a 1.7V core and really made it fly. To bad it didn't reamin stable long... I'm sure ASUS fixed everything so don't worry.

can't be, i got a p5k micro itx in box in new condition from an open box. Came with box and all accessories still in plastic.

never had any problems with open box and only one of the open box motherboards i have purchased have ever not included the accessories

Nope. Board is $70 + $8 shipping. I/O shield is $10 + $5 shipping. That brings total up to $93. For that much money I can kick in another $10 or so and get a quality brand new mobo instead of some refurb/open box garbage

very cheap if you don't mind open box....

Thanks

Just got one on Saturday - it was just the board and clearly a RMA from Asus (barcoded manufacturer's RMA label on the outside of the box). Came out to $82 with tax (in CA) and shipping. Did the XP Pro ATA driver method of a mobo swap with my P5K-E (cold bugged nic) and after downgrading to bios 1406, it is chugging along with my trusty C0 E8500 nice and stable at 9.5x456=4.33 - very well spent $82.

good to know there's a chance, I was doubtful it was true

You're right. Refurbished products and open box for the most part are great. And I believe you when you say yours have all been good. But he makes a valid point and you bit his head off. What the heck?

You agree that "Refurbished products and open box for the most part are great" but then you say Toaster Oven has a valid point that refurbished products and open box are "garbage"?

Why would I get an open box mobo when for about the same price I can purchase a brand new equally nice mobo with all included accessories, full warranty, generous return policy, and is guaranteed not to be somebody's test bench beater? LOL... :p

ive bought like 3 open boxes. Came with ALL accessories didnt even look used so hot deal.

I have bought many open box items from newegg, and here's a general rule I follow: the deeper the discount, the fewer accessories. 99% of the time I don't care about any accessories anyway.

I bought 2 asus open motherboards previously. Both came alone and both were DOA.

I got the gigabyte ud3p for $110 AR. Thought it was worth $30 more and includes all accessories.

This is what I got for my troubles. the retail w/ tax + ship AR = $127 for me, and i don't use an io shield on this machine and i need more 'accessories' like a hole in the head.

I ordered one the other day. If you don't need the accessories, seems like a good deal to me. You're essentially getting it for 30% off.

I meant EXACTLY what I said. Toaster Oven's point is valid because of his experience and reasoning in this situation, and I can see where he's coming from. I never said I agreed. And I also understand the position of buying refurbs/open items and having them work just like new, as most have in my own personal experience. My point was that the response was downright rude - and you notice the moderator agreed with me. Post deleted.

$69 is a good deal for this board. I would trust it. But it's worth the extra money to me to get the I/O plate. I know that's a silly cosmetic thing more than anything, but it's how I am. I like my rigs to look nice, like someone who knew what he was doing actually made it.

I picked this up when they had it for $69 a few months ago along with free shipping, I was waiting for it to have free shipping or come down a bit when they were at $74.99 a long time. Mine came with no accessories but has been running great. My last 5 mbs have been newegg open box deals, never had a DOA board. This board is $124.99 with a $15 MIR, even if you get your MIR were not talking 'just a few dollars more' for a new one.

You can get them for $85 or less shipped, used or new on the FS forums. If you pay $124.99 for this board out the door, you're wasting your money. I paid $119.99 7 months ago and even when I sold it 5 months ago, the prices had already fallen much lower than that on the FS forums (I sold mine on eBay and got back almost what I paid).

By your definition, buying anything new is a waste of money - a very personal preference.

No, I don't see the point in paying $124.99 for a board that has sold consistenly in past months for less. This board has gone down to $99.99 in the past, quite often in fact, and to buy it for $124.99, is not a bright move imo. ;)

In terms of relation to this thread, an open box item is essentially a used item. So you can either pay more to get it from Newegg and not get any accessories, or you can buy it in the forums for less money with all the original accessories. If it were $69 with FS like the poster above it's a good deal, otherwise, not so much.

Don't trash the OPs thread. If you like the deal, thk the OP. If not, keep moving. Open Box deals are always YRMV.

I bit, Hopefully with this, my other E5200 and the 2gb team x ram i have around, i can make a quick buck selling the whole pc.

Just got mine today. Came in a brown box with a label that seemed to come from Asus itself. Bare board in a anti-static bag. Fired it right up. No problems.

Who cares if you don't want to buy it, maybe someone else does. I'm not sure where so many people got the idea from that Hot Deal threads were about telling everyone whether or not THEY like the deal. If you know of a place were someone can this board for the same price or less, non-refurbed, and/or with all the accessories then post it, but no one really cares if you are planning to get one and everyone knows the benefits of getting a new item vs. a refurbed, capt'n obvious.

People seem to post with the attitude that the OP is trying to cram the product down their throats. He just saw a discounted product and clearly stated it was an open-box, take it or leave it.

Nope...bare board only. That's what I expected. It seems like Newegg is selling the refurbs for Asus.
