The CoDWaW Sizexull cvar hack

i dont even play or like COD WaW but that is amazing!! holy hell. Is that just an in game console command?

Reminds of the games that when you set your graphics options to low, all the bushes and shrubs and things vanish....but if you ran it at higher graphics settings, you couldn't see the people shooting you in the face with their low graphics settings.

It's not quite the same, but general idea is that why would a game allow you turn off visual obstructions at all from the pure fairness point of view.

My friend did that in COD1 to gain advantage over others. I honestly like my games looking good, but comon that is cheap. While I understand there are those who may not have the money for an uber system and the company wants to maximize profits, but daayym....

yea simple console command and the asshat has an enormous advantage...Freaking unbelievable that it is still not in the mainstream gaming spotlight. Maybe this small outlet will bring more light to the dark side of developers leaving this kind of exploit in when they release a game.
We went thru this in condom 4 with the set_getindvar exploit for reddot and uav and third person.

I have to question if they don't leave them in there on purpose to some extent because it seems like there's a lot of people who buy games just to cheat/grief anymore. I think part of the game for most people is trying to get their little hacks in and used sparsely enough that it's really hard to be sure. I personally consider being able to turn off a lot of visual obstruction to be pretty close to cheating if not outright cheating. If it's in the game menu options for easy access, it's close. If it's console commands you have to enter to turn them off, then it is cheating.

It'd be similar if it came to audio, if I could take out all the ambient sounds and crank up the sound of footsteps over everything else with really good sound direction. I would have a distinct advantage over someone who didn't know how to. Although visual is often times going to be a much bigger advantage.

I don't see how admins don't go apeshit after a time because you'd never get to play if you ran a public server with varying participants during the day and no "core" players.

I was impressed until I noticed the sandbags and such diappearing too. I can imagine you could get a bit frustrated shooting at someone and wondering why they weren't dying.

After I play a game for awhile, I get to where I remember the little obstacles that block shots. So I don't think it'd be too far of a stretch to play with them visible for a bit, or just get one little section into memory. Then turn them all off and you can see people coming, and just know where you can and can't hit them. And to top it off you can justify it by saying "Well the game ALLOWS me to do it!" Or if they re-render fast enough that you don't lag too much you could create a hotkey to turn them on and off at will.

I don't know but if you were going to toggle a command for it maybe it would look like this:

Default is "16" "0" is Off This toggles between the two.

bind KP_DOWNARROW "toggle r_sizecull 0 16"

I figure the best way to get rid of this is for everyone to bitch about it and force them to do something about it.

I am letting server admins know about this. Very Few are guarding against it. Some have been out right hostile. LOL Go figure.
