Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War II - Beta

I can see why some of you would be pissed that it isn't like the first one, but Relic was honest from the start about the changes.

That said, this game is much better. The best elements of CoH without the downtimes, and unlike the original DoW much more emphasis on micro and tactics, not who can pump out more units the fastest which is basically what I read some of you want. In that case Red Alert 3 is your game, I'll take DoW2 thank you. If you idle in this game and you are not constantly capping or decapping or retreating to reinforce you will lose badly.

It's kind of unbalanced now, some units are way op and many upgrades are pointless but hopefully that will be fixed soon. The graphics are great and it runs fine, I'm a little pissed about Live (why couldn't we use Steam accounts for matchmaking?) but you can't have everything. 3v3 can lag if you get retards who have settings too high but when the full version comes out I'll probably be playing custom games anyway.

I think I will buy it if there will be a good deal on steam, but what turns me off a bit is that to have cool heroes customization in MP (like a warboss with an iron jaw Oo) I will have to play the those shitty ranked games, they don't even always record the game scores ffs.

It doesn't count towards your stats if someone disconnects or drops halfway through, which makes sense since it would be unfair towards the team that loses a team mate.

Although if someone in a team with less than 100 points drops, it still counts. It just sucks though, if you're dominating a team early, a lot of players can't take it and exit game, so no one gets rank points. I've won about 12 games in a row so far, and my record only indicate 5.

I feel it should still count if someone drops and one team has at least 25% lead in points over the other.

Are there any guides out for this game yet?

I wanted a single-player campaign first at least so I could learn the game. Then I'd take it to multiplayer.

Each multiplayer game I've joined so far has ended in 10 minutes or less... it's going 60/40, yet I've contributed very little to the action because I cannot get a feel for the game.

Edit: Ok I guess I'll play against the computer... blah :) [I'll admit it. I didn't realize that option existed.]

create a custom game and replace the open slot with a cpu opponent and comp stomp until you get a feel for it. After 3-4 games I can beat the AI on hard every time. Get your build order down and remember VPs tick much faster than in CoH so don't waste any time going for them. Energy is essential for tech so make sure you get your asap while harassing your opponent's. You can also watch replays and see what the top CoH players are doing.

You may have seen a pattern, but I'm as positive as a non-developer can be that failing to count stats is a bug. Relic did note that they've fixed the stats bug, I just don't know if the other details you've provided will still be in effect or if what you're seeing is entirely caused by the confirmed bug.

Oh I agree it should be fixed, as it's very frustrating to only have half your games count towards your record.

It's just something me and my buddies noticed.

I wonder if Relic would consider hadicapped wins/loses for games where someone drops? Say, your side wins the game, but someone from the the other team dropped, you get a hadicapped win. And the remaining players on the losing team get a handicapped lose. At least that way the game gets recorded. So your stats would be W / HW / HL / L / DC. Just an idea.

ive downloaded it via steam and have been having problems signin in to GFWL. Damn, windows live sucks. Ive tried all there is possible... but it just wont budge. Oh well, guess im gonna giive this game a miss for the GFWL requirement to play multiplayer

kind of frustrating, the beta won't run. DoW2 loader crashes every time I try to run it in steam. Anyone else see any problems with it?

The game is released on 19th in NA and 20th in Europe, the beta will probably be closed by then.
