looks like it is back to 149.99?
ok so.... where's the coupon?
Anyone know the the actual usable size of these drives? Just curious
Do these drives come with a 5 yr warranty? I'm thinking about taking the drive out of the USB case and put it in my main desktop since the price on these is just as good as an OEM drive. Do the drives have a SATA connection?
I doubt you're allowed to do this. Hitachi will not warranty your drive if it's removed from its case and IIRC neither will WD so I would assume Seagate has the same policy.Do these drives come with a 5 yr warranty? But warranty aside, all 1.5TB Seagates are SATA drives.

Uhhh... guys?... isn't this the drive with the problems?
There are problems, but from what I've read in the disk storage forum, newer firmware for the HDD makes the problem null.

Instructions to not only find out if you have an affected model but also to fix it in the event you do:I know, but is the firmware able to update via usb? Probably not. You'll probably have to take it out of the external encloser, which may void the warranty.
I am a forum moderator, but I am not a technical expert. As such, I pass on information that is passed on to me, and in this case erroneous information was passed on to me, which I then posted. Then Saturday and Sunday, then Monday was a US holiday. Upon my return to work today, I was informed that Seagate's firmware issue has been amended, and does not actually include the FreeAgent Desk (nor the OneTouch 4). So I'll be locking and un-floating this thread. I am sorry for the inconvenience and the confusion.
Wow... did you even read the OP or did you just click the link?
Scroll up, read again and enjoy the knowledge.
I'm likely in for 1... could use a 1.5TB External drive.
Read it, but decided to point out that it is somewhat stupid to post your coupon code in the link because the link doesn't apply the coupon code.
Wow...
