Why cant we have nice things: Star Wars Battlefront 3

I hadnt paid too much attention to all the leaked screenies that came out of now dead Free Radical since i found the first two battlefronts fairly not fun.

However, i thoroughly enjoyed Battlefield 2, and figured id give this link a look:

Why did this game have to die :(, it look great and with enough players, truly epic space/land/air battles could be fought in real time. Almost like a FPS/RTS hybrid

Seems fairly far in development from the video, any chance that someone might pick it up?

Thoughts?

It's for kids on consoles...serious games(Hence FPS) give better immersion, better aim and looks better...it's the only way to go.
So keep that 3rd person shite away from the PC.

Meh I'd greatly prefer if they used those development funds for new part of Tie Fighter or Jedi Academy/Knight.

^^^ This. I would love to play sequels/updates to either one of those. The Force Unleashed just did not do it for me. Alas a good space sim set in the Star Wars universe will probably never happen. :(

Might be a good idea(if Lucasarts don't frown upon) just to t<ke the original "X-Wing" and "Tie-figther" and remake them in the opensource FreeSpace2 engine.

Damn I spent weeks with those 2 games...important though would be NOT to please console kids and keep the difficult level as HIGH as it was back then
 
Jedi Academy had 3rd and 1st person perspective. You dont want this trash on pcs? What about Max Payne etc? There are tons of good games that are first person and you need to get your head out of your ass and stop acting all "hardcore gamer yo"

I don't like games that cheats and "helps" by letting you se stuff you shouldn't be able to.

Hardcore Arma servers also locked down 3rd person view for that same reasons...we don't game with cheat(er)s
 
I just started playing Dead Space on the PS3 and I hate the 3rd person. Half my screen is taken up by my character. Why??
 
Quitcher bitchin about 3rd person and just be grateful they are still putting good games on PC. Turn off third person if it's that big of a problem, or don't play the game... -_- People these days... god damn...

Looks frigging awesome. Always loved the battlefront series, wish they released them sooner :p
 
sorry but your "Logic" is retarded. Because you can see your character doesn't mean it's a fps. I don't want every freakin game to be a first person perspective. I guess the concept of an action/rpg game is beyond you. Nor is it for "kiddies"

What you should have said though is "Keep Starwars from gaming until they can finally do a good one again" :D;)

What? I love a good FPS as much as the next guy, but I also like a good 3rd person shooter. Armed and Dangerous and Max Payne 1/2, Giants: Citizen Kabuto, Hidden & Dangerous are excellent examples of high quality PC 3rd person games. If I recall correctly, only Max Payne went to consoles.

Exactly, could you imagine playing Max Payne first person? That'd be horrible! I will agree 3rd person is dumb and cheating in a game like battlefront though.

Personally, I hate it. No real argument here, it just pisses me off. Feels yucky. If a game is released with first/third-person switching capability that's great by me.
 
There are some excellent 3rd person games: Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, Jedi Academy, Max Payne, etc...

I also liked playing the Mechwarrior series from a 3rd person point of view.
 
I liked GoW 1 on PC.
Co-op was great in with 3rd person.

I have no problem with it.
 
apparently you all didnt watch the whole video, theres plenty of first person in it. Its switchable it looks like
 
No 3rd person means no slow motion dives during bullet time. Hell FEAR had to resort to flying and sliding melee attacks. :p

That is, unless your camera dropped into 3rd Person during the dive then reverted to 1st person afterwards.
 
Screw Battlefront sequel, make either KOTOR III single player for PC or Rogue Squadron III / Xwing vs Tie Fighter for PC with crysis graphics.
 
I prefer 1st person as well, but watch the whole video, it looks awesome.
 
TPS haters the Max Payne series, some of the best goddamn games ever made, say hello.
 
1st person 3rd person? Who gives a diseased squirt of shit as long as the game is good? I mean damn OK, if you dont like 3rd person games that's totally cool, but does liking 3rd person make you a kidde or noob? I thought that we were all GAMERS here and not zealot fanboys. :confused:

Most PC gamers here I've found are more PC elitists then gamers in general. Not saying that's wrong or anything but I personally just go where the games are; consoles included.

Max Payne was the the only tps that I enjoyed. I also don't really like console shooters whether it's 1st or 3rd person.
 
I'm an adult, I like FPS and TPS, and don't consider TPS games that are competitive to be "cheating"

And I just wish this game was coming out at all, thats the bummer. That game looks amazing, especially the sapce combat stuff. I never could get enough of that.
 
Both are good depending on what the developer wanted to accomplish.

Good competitive shooters though should never be third person. Gears of war online anyone? Lets just both stand behind these pillars til the round ends because you don't want to peak the other guy. FUN TIMES

Max Payne is probably one of the best games ever, but it isn't multiplayer and if it was the multiplayer probably wouldn't be that great (well...unless it was co-op).
