Ikea desk gallery

haha ty. The wife's comp desk and chair is directly behind me, so it was impossible to mount them on some sort of floorstand. This was my only alternative, and works damn well. :)
Chair is also from Ikea.

*snip*

I would totally lean back too far, or roll across the floor, forgetting that they are attached.
*RRRIIIPpppppPpp* "darnit".

haha

^I feel ya. When I first started gaming with headphones I'd try to walk away from the computer with them still on my head...

The chair is an "ullman office chair" designed by Dr. Johan Ullman... ive got it at a computer show where they also had some office equipment. got it for a real nice price and paid about $100, it retails about $1500...

the comfort in that chair is amazing, you adjust the hardnes of the way the chair tints back and when you got it right it feels like you just floating, the back support is 100% right and curves naturally like the back is ... the explanation is a little bit poor due to my english...

i tried mounting a second set of extensions to the top of the first set but it didn't seem safe. did you use theplastic inserts or did you mold some kind of metal attachements instead?

Lame? I'd give anything to be able to get a jerker... To bad they don't sell them here in Korea. I might have to get one when i go back.

Be glad you live in america... for once...

tongue in cheek ;)

i used the plastic pieces. seems sturdy/safe enough to me, and i live in earthquake country. i've had shakier pieces of furniture last no problem so I am not really concerned at all.

edit: we just had a quake the other day, the shelves didn't even flinch. I dunno about how it'll handle the 9.0 when california becomes an island, but my money is on it still standing as long as the house is.

i've been looking for a jerker and cant find one anywhere... BAH!!!

Where you live and where have you been looking? My recomendation is Kijiji, thats where i found mine, should you have no luck their try craigslist (although im sure you have already tried there)

Indianapolis, IN

i've looked on craigslist mostly, checked ebay a couple times but havent had any luck.

i thought about going to the ikea store in OH and picking up one of the fredrick desks but havent had the time/money to do it.

I am getting 2 Fredriks for the office later this week. I will post up some pictures as soon as I get them assembled and get them sorted with my stuff.

Still have to hook everything back up, just moved my Ikea Freds side-by-side. Still messy looking, but here is the pic:

I just picked up a Fredrick this weekend. What is everyone doing/using to hide cables? Can someone host 2-3 pictures of my Fredrick for me? :D

As mentioned in the last post, Photobucket is a great way to upload your images and have them all in one account. But if you're too lazy to register, you can just upload to ImageShack.

Okay. picked up a niiiiice beech jerker today for $35 (love CL) so. I want a second shelf (preferably same color, if not, oh well), would I have to buy another on CL or could I find a similiar at Ikea? and I'd like to get a free floating monitor swivel that would hang behind a shelf right above the desk. Anyone have any recomendations?

Most of the additional shelving that you pick up for the Jerker is Gray finish, not beech. Each unit usually only comes with the 1 beach shelf. I would recommend watching CL as you mentioned if your heart is set on a matching beach shelf. My Jerker came with 4 shelves total, and only 1 of them was beach.
I too would have prefered to have all beach shelves.:p

Here is my Fredrick, as you can see I need to somehow hide the cables better...

Forgot about this thread. :p

My Galant with new stuff for 2009: Dell 3008WFP, Denon AVR-988, Ultrasone HFI-780, Epson 600...

How much weight can a galant support? I'm planning on buying the 48" top and T legs.

Where do people get the jerkers? I can't find em any where.

Thanks,
Mark

The Galant is very sturdy. I've had no problems with all the stuff piled onto mine.

Jerker was discontinued in 2007. Many people find used Jerkers for great prices on Craig's list.

I'm thinking about buying the smaller version of the Ikea Fredrik. Are these desks good? Some people say that it's inferior compared to the Jerker. Some say it's not stable. Others don't like it because it doesn't have optional shelves that you can mount on the sides. Personally I don't care about the side shelves. The two shelves that come with Fredrik is all I will need. For those that own this desk, is it worth it? Does it feel as if it is going to fall apart, or does it feel sturdy to you?
