LG showed off its new touch screen “Dick Tracy” video phone wristwatch today. The only real problem with launching a device like this isn’t the phone or the technology around it…the hardest part is explaining who “Dick Tracy” was.

Several manufacturers already make wristwatch phones, but the LG model would likely be the first that can do video calls. It has a built-in camera and full cellular broadband capabilities.

Make it slightly smaller and circular, and you too can whisper into your watch about the inadequacies of the antiquated dredging equipment available. Oversized blue-rimmed glasses sold separately.

I for one like this idea... I think people would look a little less stupid talking to their wrist, than just mumbling away.

Hopefully we won't see anyone wearing this watch driving down the road with their wrist up to an ear...

The pronz must flow....

But seriously though, that'd be awesome for small games to play when you're bored. Put in an accelerometer or something, and you could do labyrinth (marble game), dice games like craps or something along those lines. Granted, you'd look retarded doing the dice-roll hand movement in the middle of a waiting room, but hey... just throwing out some ideas :p

Hmm... a video phone watch, just imagine people using it while driving.
They're driving down the road with their wrist held up in front of them, blocking their view while driving.
I can see the potential lawsuits from all the accidents caused by that.

For the record, I remember reading Dick Tracy comic strips in the newspaper here when I was a kid. :p

A video watch was a good idea in the 50's but in 2009 seems pretty useless.

I would take one in a heart beat. My Blackjack looks a little ruff from being in my pocket all the time. A video, camera, watch - phone... with touchscreen is a nice idea.

I remember when the Dick Tracy movie came out.

Never saw it. Wondering if I should now.

I do remember the comic strips in the paper though. I never got into them cause I was more interested in the funny ones.

I'd be in for one if it had bluetooth.
