Opinions on HP w2408h ?

FYI, that = "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms."

Wtf...it just worked for me earlier when I tested it. Do a search for w2408h and see if that turns aything up. You have to check a few different terms/designations.

Some info on that monitor. It's a good 24" display with low input lag. If you don't mind the glossy screen it's pretty damn good 24" lcd display. Rich vibrant TN display. It has a pretty high color gamut. Has height adjust and can rotate into portrait mode. 3 x USB ports on the monitor: 1 underneath and 2 on the left side of the monitor. The drawback to this LCD is you may get a model that has a fair amount of backlight bleed on the top and bottom. Warranty is only 1 year as oppose to 3 years with Samsung, BenQ and Acer lcds.

I like the monitor.
disclaimer - I'm a fan of glossy screens

the colors are good, nice and bright, and I got it for a good price, the adjustments available with the arm are great (height and rotation adjustments are great when I have several seating areas around my desk)
I don't get the noise that some users have mentioned, so I can't comment on that. Speakers are whatevs, but it's nice since the HDMI input has an audio stream for when I hook up the PS3

it's nothing fancy, I'm not terribly picky with monitors, just a normal user i'd say, and I like this monitor.

I used to have one, mine didn't have any noise. It's a great looking monitor but if you pick one up, make sure you know what panel you're getting. The LG panel has terrible back light bleed.

Is there a way to know what panel you're getting?

Turn off monitor, keep Menu button pressed and turn it on. Access the OSD menu and navigate the OSD to the Service option. There you'll see the panel type.

LPL is LG
LTM is Samsung.

Go with the samsung 2343bwx. at $245 at Frys. can't loose. No gloss. 2048x1152. simply put - awesome display. this will change the marketplace.

You do know that this aberrat... err, monitor doesn't do 1920x1080, don't you? It goes from 1680x1050 to 2048x1152. It's a freak resolution and too big for a 23".

Kind of weird if it just jumps to 2048x1152...

I picked up one of these 2408H's today to check it out and I am really suprised at the quality. My panel seems to be of the Samsung varitety according to the Service Menu. Color is quite good (red is a little strong), there very little light bleed, view angles are quite good, text seems really clear, and there is NO input lag that I can see (playing COD5:WoW).

After reading so many reviews giving this monitor a mediocre rating my expectations were pretty low. Now that I have been using this monitor for the past few hours, I have come to the realization that this monitor is far superior to the Samsung T240 I tried a few days ago in just about every aspect (in fact, it beats it in every aspect). It isn't perfect, there is a little bit of light on the lower right side when viewed in the dark with a black screen, but it sure is better than the Samsung T240 (not the HD version) I tried.

I was going to return this one when it didn't work out (I was sure it wasn't. lol) and get a BenQ G2400WD. Now I am not sure what to do. The BenQ is still quite a bit cheaper (this 2408H was $469.99 without tax at BB) but I don't have a G2400WD front of me to compare. If I return this one and get a G2400WD then it will have a lot to live up too after using this monitor. I'm a little worried about returning this monitor and going with a monitor I have never seen just to save some money...

Glossy might take some adjusting to, but this is sounding like a good monitor.

It IS available in stores ie Best Buy and such right?

I saw this screen setup in a well lit warehouse and all I noticed about it was how refelctive the screen was. Make sure you are not going to be in a room with sun coming through the windows. For the price I would consider a few other screens first. Maybe a Acer p241, or a dell. Glossy screens look great as long as the room isn't well lit.

Terrible monitor for photo editing but this is to be expected with a TN display. Has some serious lightbleed as well.

I returned it within 3 hrs of purchasing it. I really hope the TN panel trend doesn't stick, it is becoming increasing difficult to even find an s-pva or s-ips panel.

Sounds like you got a bad panel, probably the non-Samsung.

$215 for a recertified HP w2408h. You can use some coupons to get it lower. Some people have received perfect units while others say they have issues like stuck pixels. People are getting both Samsung and LG screens.

I like the new 23" Samsung with the x1152 resolution a lot. Might consider it if this HP doesn't work out.

Got mine when they had it as a paypal deal $199 shipped.
Who gets a 24" monitor for $199? Decent 22" monitors run that much. At that price, I can deal even if it turns out to be a LG screen.

I use the w2207h at work, the smaller brother of the w2408h, and the glare is utterly ridiculous. The window behind me makes it nearly impossible to see half the screen at any given time. But if glare doesn't bother you, the monitor is quite decent for colors and blacks.

Got it today, and I'm undecided on it.

Firstly, it's the not the apparently superior Samsung model. I also notice the top is a bit darker than the botton. And it overall looks a bit blurry to me, images and text alike, along with being perpetually bright. Also kinda strange how the settings carry over to ALL inputs (HDMI settings carry over to VGA for example)

Then again, my first 24" monitor experience was with an MVA, so I may be a bit spoiled and a TN could take a bit of time to get used to.

Also, when I hook up my 360, the screen will give tiny white flickers (not the entire screen, but small patches on the screen itself). It did this in HDMI and VGA. It's hard to notice in motion, but if you stare at a static image, you can see it clearly.

Still having the flickering problem, even when using the HDMI that came with the computer. This is ridiculous.
