Intel Retailedge 2008 (2 purchase programs this year?)

I think it starts tomorrow .. though that is based off of no research and no insight. ;)

Rockstars are able to purchase already. Deals aren't that good this time around, I'll pass.

I almost pulled the trigger on the SSD, but it comes out to over $550 CND for me by the time i deal with exchange rate, shipping, & brokerage.

I just couldn't swallow that price, & i have no need for another quad/mobo/Vista license, so it appears i spent all year wasting time on the quizzes for pretty much nothing, especially since all the good items in the store are always unavailable every single time i've checked. :(

I just received my G9 mouse from the store today so they are shipping. Mine shipped December 2.

Yep, just received my plantronics today :)

yeah me too
this is the first time in several years I haven't bought it

Same here. I bought the E6300, the Q6700, the Extreme, and multiple other items. I can't believe I'm passing this up. I really want a 45nm processor, but this is not going to be an upgrade at all from my Q6700.

Anybody else receive their Dark Knight training pack?

Get a T-shirt other than Iron Man?

Yeah, I got the Rockstar package, too, and it came with the Iron Man T-shirt.

I gotta say, though, when all the batman stuff started falling out, I was hoping to find maybe a movie in there .... :(

Oh well. It's really nice gift from Intel anyways. Cool that they're thinking of us. A flash drive, T-shirt, some playing cards ... not too shabby.

Thanks, Intel! :D

Oh boo, I didn't get a flash drive in my bag.

I just couldn't bring myself to order the Big Deal this year. Only a real big deal for the first 1200 people. I don't need the OS or games (I got Farcry free with my gfx card) and have no use for the motherboard, and I'm not going to buy it and sell it. That's not what this program is about. I don't even have any family members to build a computer for that would ever justify needing DDR3 over much cheaper DDR2 (like 20 bucks after rebate for 4GB!!!) I suppose it's a good deal still, but not as hot as bundles I've purchased in the past. A Q9450 and I would've bit. The 9300 just won't improve over what I have in anything except power consumption.

I haven't read through this entire thread so I apologize if it was covered earlier but, does anybody know if these points are going to carry over to next year? I missed the G15 and G9 deal because I was a little slow on the ball but I have over 40,000 points with nothing done yet! It would really suck if it reset Jan 1. I would get Fallout 3 or a headset (or 2) if I was running out of time but really mad I missed the last set of goodies. Any thoughts or insights from the forums?

I have no idea if they do but an email to the store would likely answer the question. My guess is that this year is that it will carry over but expire sometime next year but don't take my word for it.

"Thank you for contacting the Intel(R) Retail Edge Program team.

Fortunately, beginning with the Program re-launch in May, Chips are no longer reset. Currently, the only way you can lose our Chips is through inactivity for more then a year."

Just an FYI. Took the advice of dropping them a quick question and got an answer in 24 hours.
Hello Logitech headset? Or wait for the next batch of goodies? Damn g15 and g9 slipped through my fingers!

... g15 and g9 slipped through my fingers!

I know. That G15 was hot and I didn't realize it when it was available. I had 13,000 left after ordering fallout 3 and RA 3. I didn't order the keyboard because I needed 15,000. I didn't discover the extra points you got doing the review tests until it was OOS. :(

Anybody have the Logitech headset in the deal (digital precision)? I currently have a perfectly functioning Logitech headset but you can never say no to the latest and greatest, especially when it is "free". Maybe I should just wait until some really smokin deals come back.

I was considering the headset, too. I almost bit on the KB until I realized it wasn't backlit, and I've seen the Diamondback frequently on sale for $20. Not worth 10,000 when they sometimes have champs like the G15 there. I did order the leatherman micra because I can really use one of those. Would've rather had the wave when they had it, but the micra was only 6500 pts.

KB and mouse back in stock BTW.

Clicked on the digital headset and out of stock. Going to seriously think about the next set of products they lay out next time. I am getting the feeling they keep walking down a rung each time with the store products.

Any rumors on what the Big Deal is going to be about this spring? I am on the hunt for a new mobo and cpu!

I'm wondering as well. My guess would be:

Intel x58 smackover board, Core i7 920 & Vista for $399

or

Intel x48/P45 mobo, Q965 CPU and Vista $299

Purely speculation.

Man that is one thing I miss with not working at Best Buy anymore. Oh well atleast I got my Q6600 while I could.

Wish I could have got that SSD drive but ahhh well.

You could do what I do. I have a buddy who works at a qualified store and he is just my puppet really. I do all the quizzes, enjoy the benefits, and he sends in employment verification. I am way more into computers than he is, he could really care less but is a good friend for hooking it up.

If that's the case, I'll be all over that shnazzzz.... Looking to go i7 very soonly.

Although going i7 would be sweet, I don't know if I am wanting to hunt for the ddr3 deals. Some good ones rolling around but if Intel busts out a q9650 and mobo for like 3 hundy and I can just snap in my ram and roll, I will jump on it pretty quick like. I hate passing up other good deals on the [H] forum for cpus and mobos while waiting!

i'm also crossing my fingers for an i7 deal, but if they don't have anything anounced by the mdidle of april, i'm gonna pull the trigger anyways

If anyone has any updates from the movie screening please post them up. Unfortunately the closest one to me was ~230 miles away so I didn't get to see it or get any updates.

Yeah, we were all set to go - 280 miles to Boise!! But one of the guys bailed, and that upped the gas per person price, also, the wind was crazy here, and with our tiny little Saturn it would've been a miserable drive.

We went and saw Star Trek anyways at 7:40 here. Weird seeing it before it's supposed to open ...

Do tell, ye faithful attendees!! Any bundle news?

if i remember correctly...

June:

i7 940 + Some motherboard + Vista = $220

i7 940 + Vista = $180

But i'm not sure if those prices are correct

I just went last night and they are pretty good.
i7 940+DX58SO+Vista Ultimate=$299
I7 940+Vista Ultimate=$149
If I remember correctly from last night. I think I am going to bite. We will see!
I didn't win anything though, so that sort of blew.

Edit: Our rep at the presentation clearly said 940, he upsets me.

At this point in time, given the rig in my sig has the Q6700 from last year, and that it seems rather dumb to go with Vista at this point on a brand new system, I think i will wait untill the package comes with Win7.

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! The package comes with a free upgrade to Win 7 when it comes out. Now I know you are thinking that upgrades are shite but who knows, it may be for a good version if we are all lucky.
