I Just finished the game and believe me this is MUST play game. This is my first FALLOUT game and I simply love it in every way. It runs great on my Toshiba Laptop with 2x 8600 GT SLI.

Why it took them so many years to make 3rd version of fallout ?

It took awhile because the license was sold to Bethesda when Interplay went tits up. They actually had working code but Bethesda did not use it and instead used their Oblivion based engine.

I agree wholeheartedly with your post. Fallout3 is a deep engrossing game. Not since the Final Fantasy series did I look forward to coming home to play the game again. Definitely a must buy for 2008 especially with the downloadable content coming soon.
 
I'm on my third playthrough right now. The game is good stuff.
 
I dont like RPG games but This one really impreessed me especially with GFX and Story Line.
 
On my second time playing through... very hard of course, but a little annoyed the first time. Only played oblivion and morrowind, so i figured the game still continued even after the main quest was ended... Considering the only towns i visited other than cities you have to go to was megaton, kinda was disappointing (plus i hit level 14 at the VERY end). Anyways, playing through again now, and planning on going nowhere beyond getting into the citadel, main quest wise.

could use more quests, and maybe be not so linear, but oh well
 
I just beat my first playthrough of Fallout 3 two days ago and it is one of my favorite games ever. I had my doubts that Bethesda would do a good Fallout game but they did a fantastic job.
 
I disliked and never really played RPGs before Fallout 3, but holy shit, it is one of the best games I have ever played.
 
Well said, everyone. I am obsessed with the game and haven't looked forward to playing anything this much since BF 1942, especially since I found a fix to random freeze that seems to afflict the multicore crowd.
 
I just keep trying different characters and fucking around. Great game though! I'll be playing it for a while.
 
I always loved RPG's, and FO3 went right to the top of my list (up there with the Witcher!). I enjoyed Oblivion, but not nearly as much as FO3. Quests/buildings seem just the right length, I never feel like I'm just grinding, and the choices when leveling actually make me stop and think for a sec. Great game.
 
Im enjoying it...but not because it does justice to the Fallout franchise. I try to think of it as just a cool post apocalyptic FPS/rpg.
 
I am enjoying this game very much, I finished act 1 of the witcher but stopped and started playing falllout 3... much more freedom and doing whatever I want in FO3.

Only thing that pisses me off is some guy on anandtech posted the ending.... sigh. O wells
 
If you love FO3 and never played 1 or 2 do yourself a favor and get them NOW...
 
The game was a good experience, but the ending was a total letdown for me. I liked Mass Effect a lot more, but both are must plays for RPG fans.
 
im 55hrs in and ive just arrived at little lamplight. hit level 20 recently. i wonder how much more game i have to play. been doing every sidequest i come across so far.

this is by far, the best game of 2008.
 
w00t just put together my schishkabob, rail gun, and rock it launcher all at once :)

I am in same seat u are. Fallout 3 is worth $53. The game really got me when I saw that president itself is a Computer LOL.

Funny. I'm also @ 55 hours and I'm level 20 already aswell. Still a lot to do, though in terms of main quest, I believe I'm not too far off of completing it.

Agreed. This is GOTY for sure. I'm liking it as much as I did Morrowind and that's saying a lot for me, since Morrowind is probably my favorite game ever...

Be sure to find or buy the schematics for the Dart Gun. It's extremely useful! I love crippling Deathclaws with it :)
