The only reason they have to do that is because prosecutors try to bend the rules with the more undesirable portions of the populous because they think they can get away with it and set a precedent which could potentially be later used against people like you and me. Protecting their rights, protects ours. While I might not agree with every case they defend that doesn't mean I disagree with there motives as a whole.

A great example was the recent Supreme court case regarding a pedophile who got stopped at a boarder crossing, had an encrypted harddrive. Boarder agents accidentally shut down the laptop and then couldn't access the files anymore. They held him and charged him for not revealing his PGP password to decrypt the harddrive. That case would have never even reached the Supreme Court had it not been a pedophile, it probably would have gotten thrown out by a lower court. The part that really irks me is, this guy would have given them another chance (perverts always do), they could have any used number of other legal tools at there disposal to hang this guy but instead they chose to try and set a dangerous precedent on an undesirable individual because they thought they could get away with it and got called out on it. Does the guy deserve to rot. Absolutely. Not at the expense of civil liberties though.

The simple fact is, no matter how technological advanced a man gets, a man is still a man. History repeats itself based on how men are. 'Those who do not learn from history, are doomed to repeat it!'

People who don't care about life are not gonna stop to not kill you just because you rose the white flag and begged them for mercy. In fact, they'll kill you faster. This is the same thing France did during World War 2, and in the end, they needed help to get the germans to stop KILLING them.

Be ignorant all you want, but if you ignore reality, one day it will be in your face.
 
The simple fact is, the people who bash America and want terrorists rights are ignorant fools who think they can change another person by changing themselves.

I'm sorry, but the ones thinking rationally here is America, not the countries who want to change terrorists by changing themselves.
 
The simple fact is, these countries will these illogical methods of handling terrorism cannot for one second mention when they changed an American point of view by changing themselves.

Well history tends to disagree with you, as Christians have been one of the most bloodthirsty factions, have by and large subsided, there is no reason to think what is left of radical Islam won't eventually be relegated to a chapter in a school kids history book.

Radical fanatics of any flavor can be dangerous, KKK, IRA, Al' queda.

And I'm assuming with that logic right there you'd rather wait until the muslims have died and their kids have come to see if their kids aren't bloodthristy?
 
So I assume that the main argument for raising the white flag is simply to ignore any problem and wait for it to get better?

I wasn't twisting facts, I was merely refuting an assertion. The fact of the matter is, I have a higher chance of getting mugged and killed by a member of a local gang walking home than I do from coming to any sort of harm from Muslim extremists.

That's really a highly ignorant way of looking at life. Just like local gangs can move in to your neighborhood, so eventually could any sort of murderer or killer, whether it's for religion, to steal, or just hate.

Because it's nonsense to ignore what is documented history and say it's fearmongering when you don't wanna hear the argument.

Comparing WW2 France to those who've been killed by radical terrorists is ridiculous. Germany had an entire armed force which occupied the country. Once they surrendered, its not like German soldiers started going ape shit on every person that moved. A better comparison might have been the killing of the jews, as it reflects hatred for a sect of people. Muslim extremists hate us for various reasons.

You're trying to skew facts to make your point and thats been a real problem in the last few years. Its also what led me to say you're fearmongering. You're telling the rest of us we're all gonna die if we don't do something a certain way. And frankly, you're basically acting like a terrorist talking like that. You might be going about it a different way but you're still trying to stir up fear. This is also a great example of being short-sighted. Something which we've also had a problem with in the last few years. Use your brain and open your eyes.
 
A poorly defined enemy coupled with religion fueled nationalism are not a good mix. Such an ideology is just as dangerous as fundamentalist extremism.

The ACLU was founded by commited Communists, a quote from the founder Roger Nash Baldwin-

A man who had so many rights violated it is not even funny for asking nothing more than a simple question and having it honestly answered. His private records in Ohio were improperly accessed and leaked to the public by no less than six departments yet no one has been charged with clear crimes.

I already mostly answered your first question in my other post about the ACLU.

To answer your second question, did "Joe the Plumber" ask the ACLU for help, because I honestly don't know, if he did and they turned him down then I agree with you that is upsetting, otherwise I'm not sure what your point is.

I don't see the question answered, not a single person mentions the founding and goals of the ACLU. Their stated goal was weaking the United States through use of the court systems, which they have done over and over again through the years.

The ACLU has no problem presenting themselves to people who have not asked for their help and have a clear track history of avoiding those whos rights have been abused if the case runs counter to their goals.

Ever heard of the Camp Pendleton 8? I'd wager you have not. Not a peep from the ACLU either.

This Zellio person really needs to cool down on the "post reply" button. It's one thing to double-post, but to manage to fit in about five hundred million bajillion squillion posts all from one poster into one page of a thread is something else.
