E2200HD Review, Part I

I can, but my camera sucks and doesn't do it justice... The CCD in my camera makes the pictures look much worse than they are (even though they still look pretty good). I have a friend with a professional camera, I'm trying to get him to come over... Maybe this weekend.

That Ergotron stand is worth $50usd. I haven't found anything else that's as good of a value. I still need more time with this monitor to see how good the stand is, but it's sturdy enough so far. The weight of this monitor is less than my Samsung 17" 710T, which surprised me.

Gaming on my 360 last night was a pleasure, 1080p is so much clearer than 1280x1024 was on my other LCD. I can now see the readings on the speedometer and tach in vehicles in Far Cry 2! Sneaking around at night in Far Cry 2 seemed to be much easier as far as visibility goes, but I don't think I really spent any time setting the other one up.

It does have VESA.
Might just be me going blind but cant se it on this image or is this backside different from those on monitors getting sold?

Be warned, the image is 2.27Mb big.

Actually BenQ is even selling an Ergotron arm together with this monitor as a bundle deal.
Live in a country farfar away so benq store isnt an option for the moment.

Want a more sophisticated arm, one that can be extended with atleast 350mm, with tilt, swivel and pivot-functions aswell.

That picture doesn't have the VESA holes punched in the texturized panel on the back. They are there in real life though!

YES, the four mount holes.. Those are there. If that's what was being sought after.

What's so cool about the Ergoarm? I'm just going to be putting this thing on a desk. Is it really worth spending another $50 just for that?

Since the E2200HD itself can only tilt 5 ~ 20 degree and no height adjustable function if you require more stand flexibility you would need to attach your monitor to an artificial arm like Ergotron. Some people are not that picky and the arm might not be such a big thing to them.
IF YOU ARE IN US, on BenQ US website, you only need to pay $30 more to buy the Ergotron bundle which is a good deal. Also make sure you use "E2200HD" promo code.

Just by pressing the on/off button, the monitor will sway side to side a few times.

What do you guys have your contrast/sharpness set at? At contrast of 35 all text looked like it had white ghosting, at any sharpness level. At contrast of 40 and sharpness of 3, it looks alright. I don't know what settings my Samsung used, as I never had to change anything, text was perfect from the get go. In Firefox I notice it the most on the links in the bookmark toolbar, and also the menu bar. I'm using a DVI cable, so technically it should be fine.

I can't decide between this monitor and the V2400W. Isn't this monitor suppose to be an improvement over the V2400W?

Just got my one, anyone wanting to ask questions please feel free to ask here and also pm thanks.

Anyone work out how to remove the stand arm? The foot/base comes off, but I want to VESA mount the monitor into an arcade cabinet, and having the stupid arm hanging down is really quite annoying. There doesn't appear to be any easy way of taking it off.

On a similar note, I want to fit a monitor bezel/shroud on the front of the screen, but because the silver bit at the bottom (with the power button on it) sticks out forwards so far, this is going to be tricky to do satisfactorily :/

Otherwise the monitor seems excellent (other than the lack of 1:1 pixel mapping, that is). Much better viewing angles than my old Viewsonic VX912 (vertically just looks dimmer, rather than the colours going completely whacky), pretty decent colour reproduction, brightness, etc... and so cheap :D

Hey guys i was wondering, I bought a E2200HD couple days ago and im having some scaling problem like if i go there http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/ and scroll down and up i can see the background color change and some white bars its really annoying also ingame when theres bright colors like in dead space when the lights are flashing in the elevator omg theres like bars going up and down. So if any of you guys have this monitor id like to know if ur having this problem so ill be able to know if its normal or not. Its in dvi btw with a 4870 vista 64. Also i had my 360 on it via hdmi and sometimes the colors when i was in a dark place were changing to a brighter dark but i changed the colors in 360 settings instead of standard i have the last one and its ok now i think but pc games arent i tried everything so if you guys could help me it would be awesome thx.

Did you enable vertical sync within the ATI drivers themselves? (Catalyst Control Center-> 3D->All Settings->Wait for vertical refresh (toward the bottom of the scroll)->Set to 'Quality' to force always on.

Your issue sounds like a vertical tearing issue and that's related to the video card, not the monitor most likely. ATI is known to have that issue right now and the above is the fix for it until the drivers are improved. This shouldn't slow down your 4870 one little bit that you'd notice.

Hey thx for ur answer i tried it but it still doing the same, also im not sure if its my video card because i had a samsung before this one and everything was fine, it wasnt 1080p tho. Still trying to find something =1 ad waiting for benq to answer but im not expecting something good from them theyll proly tell me to read the manual or give me a link to it . But thx for answering <3

well i guess im gonna have to wait for new drivers or something since the monitor is new maybe ati will fix the problem in the future or baybe benQ will make new drivers. Also i tried to turn vsync on in dead space and the bars were gone so i dunno what the problem is but its not cool that im always gonna have to play with vsync on cuz I lose a lot of fps in deadspace and its kinda laggy with vsync. Am i the only one with this problem?

Would you guys trust getting monitor from online store such as antonline or mendax microsystem who happen to have ebay store? I am asking this because with ebay cashback, it is very tempting to get them from ebay store and they say since they are actual store, I would get full factory warranty as well.

I would not. Maybe it's just my bad luck. I had bad experiences - not once but twice - on ebay. One time I got a fake purse for my wife and 2nd time I got a refurbished LCD which was described "NEW" on ebay. I swear to God I will NOT be tempted by the cheap price on ebay any more.
Don't listen to me if you are smarter than me.

I'm getting Band of Brothers on Blu ray tommorow from Blockbuster, as well as renting Far Cry 2 for 360. I'll post pics of it soon (whenever I get them)

Yesterday I got done watching the first three discs of Band of Brothers on Blu-Ray and I have to say it's one of the best movies I have seen and the picture and sound quality is amazing. Here are a few pics:

Blockbuster didn't have Far Cry 2, so I'm going back to check again this Wednesday.

I got my replacement LCD today, arrived without getting damaged this time! After I calibrated the last one, text looked terrible and I had to mess around with contrast and sharpness to get it decent. Out of the box, this one is as perfect as my trusty Samsung.:)

Hi everyone. I've only had a CRT monitor and I've got a few questions about this monitor. I've heard that when you run games in their non-native resolutions on an LCD, the quality decreases. Has anyone run any games in resolutions under the native resolution of this monitor, and if so how did it look? I was just curious because I don't upgrade my pc that often, so I dont think I'll be able to play games at the 1920x1080 resolution all the time. Also, how would this monitor compare to a CRT with input lag? I play FPS games such as Quake Live, and I'm worried this may be an issue. I'm really looking into the E2200HD/E2400HD/G2400W. Do you guys have any recommendations? Thanks for your time!

Look at my review of the 2400HD for input lag vs CRT testing.

As for off resolutions, there's a second catch to that. But first, it really looks pretty good in off resolutions. The catch though is that it's really easy now to seriously bump up the video performance of any system to handle smooth gaming at high resolutions for very little cash.

Couple of questions for you guys--first, how is the vertical viewing angle? I'm comparing everything here to a Samsung T260 which was pretty terrible. Like sitting right infront of it at these forums the bottom half was brighter than the top. Anybody have that problem? Pics? Also, I don't know what it was, but it just had this 'bright' effect. I had the brightness down in the 20s and the contrast in the 70s and this thing would still hurt my eyes. There were no other settings to really fiddle around with. And how is the text at this res in explorer for example?

I really wanna try this, but neither Benq or Newegg offer a return :/ I can afford the 24" but I was worried about the viewing angle issue being more pronounced...

BenQ offers 30 days return policy. If it is no defective, you pay the freight and they will take the return.

No, that particular problem is not an issue once the monitor is setup for your viewing position. there is some vertical shifting of colors but not as bad as many TNs I've seen.

I run my brightness between 0 and 30 and contrast to 50. All backlit panels are too bright but this one blackens up pretty well.

Nah, that's why I kept my 24". The viewing angles aren't as bad as I thought they would be, especially for a TN panel.

This is what I was worried about--

This is the E2400 (left) vs the Dell S2409W. You don't see that on yours?

If this is Usama's picture, I would not put too much faith in it.

[H] users had enough trouble understanding what he was talking about, as he was switching connections back and forth and at some points saying one monitor was better than the other.

Anyways, they are based on the same 24" AUO panel. I'll get you an evening shot of a black screen for comparison later in the ...uh...evening :)

Yes actually, they are his pics from the avforums. And I was trying to get him to post more pics b/c of precisely that--the cable swaps.

Here is another:

He just replied saying he doesn't have them anymore, and the swap fixed the bleed and whatnot

Anyone have any thoughts on the E2200HD versus the Viewsonic VX2260wm?

They both have HDMI and support 1080p....

I had better experience with BenQ store. They are reponsive and fast. I would rather pay the premium for not risking the mishap of having it ship from Canada to US.

I believe I have read here a while ago that someone called NCIX for E2200HD availability and was told it's a manufacturer discontinued model which so not true and somebody else got an E2400HD from NCIX before waiting for weeks and finally got an defective one that he needs to send back for RMA.
It could just be bad lucks. I hope.

Yeah I read that same thread, but according to NCIXUSA.com, it's "in stock". So unless their website is inaccurate.....

First Post at [H]ard|forum!.

Hi guys,
I'm thinking of getting this monitor (E2200HD), I'm from India and here it costs an equivalent of about US$240, which is actually quite cheap compared to other TN's..

I'm gonna be using it with my PC (DVI) and my consoles, (PS3 and 360) through HDMI, I heard that this doesn't have 1:1 pixel mapping, is that gonna be a problem or does it play fine with them consoles? And moreover considering that this is a 21.5' monitor, would I be missing a lot from other 16:10 22' monitors or is it just marginal?

And how does it compare to monitors like say VX2255wmb, L227, etc..

And this review has me worried, did you notice these problems?

(From the review)

Consider this monitor if you want a larger resolution for the home or office but don't want a huge monitor to dwarf you as you sit at your desk. Maybe give it a miss if you're a gamer, though, as you might notice too much blurring.

Thanks for your help!.. :)
