I just set up a new htpc with the above mb, amd 5000, hooked up through dvi to a 56" dlp, and using optical out to a reciever.
I am using vmc, and i followed the stickied guide for setting up the codecs etc.
The issue I am having is with the digital output. I wish to use the integrated onboard sound, and let me amp do all the decoding. However, everything that is sent out is picked up by the reciever is DTS Neo:6.
I know its not the reciever, as when I play dvds on my standalone or play xbox, the reciever can distinguish between DTS, DD, etc, as the different icons light up on the display.
I have several blue ray/dvd rips that I know are encoded with the DTS soundtrack, however, I am not convinced that that is what the reciever is getting sent to it, as the NEO:6 consistently shows up. Is there a way for me to tell exactly what audio soundtrack is encoded on the rip?
The only audio setting that seems to do anything is in the onboard sound control panel (in the taskbar), where there is a DTS toggle.
Can someone point me in the right direction and help me out? This is the only thing I have yet to get perfectly configured on my new build, and I want to make sure that I am getting the full experience from my investment.
Thanks
