Quote Of The Day

First of all, i'd like to get to know your "beta" first a bit, before we actually fsk.
Then, if the fsk was good and i like the said "beta", i may be tempted to start a relationship.
And if the "beta" grows to be a stable and enjoyable "retail game", i won't have any issues with droping money for it/her.

I may end up loosing a few years of my life with said "retail game".

Replace "Beta" with "Girl", "Retail game" with "Significant other".

It happened to me with Quake1, Counter-Strike and World of warcraft... i dumped all those bitches now tho.

Translation:
"Shut up and buy our game and then complain about interface issue and such after you have given us our money and numbers so we look good"

I know there is a difference between an beta and a demo but booth are becomming rare things and even rarer still before the game is released. I just Played the Mirror's Edge demo yesterday and what did I do today? I pre ordered it, just because the concept was cool and the excution was up to what I was hoping for. I'm still going to get gears2 as well but an excuse is an excuse.

CliffyB has been the sole reason why I have not been supporting EPIC Games very much in the past couple years. His lack of professionalism and obvious being out of touch with gamers keeps my money in my wallet and out of their hands.

What Cliff seems to be talking about is Demos, which I also diagree with him. Demos of good games drive sales, it's a proven metric. If you love chocolate, and I give you one piece from an entire box, you are more likely to buy the entire box than if you hadn't tasted it. Of course if it sucks, you've lost a sale,.....

almost right, the lost sale is the questionable part for if one could not of tasted the chocolate at all they likely would not buy it due to fear of not liking it and wasting money...

This is only true when the game completely and utterly sucks.

Take for example World of Warcraft. As some of you may know, they had both a closed beta, and a free public beta that was about two weeks.

Now, I had no idea what World of Warcraft was, nor did I care. However, I did one day get an e-mail from Blizzard inviting me to the FREE OPEN BETA! I figure, hey, it's free, why not try it? Within a week, my Collector's Edition was on pre-order (later sold it to a guy in the UK). I ended up playing over 2 years...

Or how about COD5... I'm playing the Beta now, and I have the Collector's Edition on pre-order.

At least he was honest enough to tell us that the game is something that you can scratch off your list after playing it for a few weeks.

this dude really is in his own world..

i don't even mind the analogy... seriously, nothing wrong with a little tapping.

however, seriously, this dude makes retarded remarks and decisions.

they already shunned and angered their pc fanbase, and they won't let people try their game, which says to me its 60 bucks for like 3-4 hours of play time... and its probably uninspired..since thats pretty much epic in a nutshell nowadays.

yeah good job.

I like the way Stardock does it. Anyone who pre-orders the game gets to participate in the open beta. As the game nears completion the best beta testers may be invited to participate in a final, closed beta. The coolest features in the last GalCiv II expansion were all suggested by the beta participants.

So in Cliffy's words, all I've been doing so far is beta testing?

lol but seriously, there were some Betas that turned me away from the final game, like Red Faction Guerilla.

he is like the 2008 version of John Romero

Well said. Cliff is just trying to retain street cred ... the GTA:4 console gamers will now look to him as a model on how to represent ! Straight up ballin, yo :D

Thanks Cliff, when do we get the finished version of UT3?

Someone keep this joke away from the press, he makes himself more unlikeable as time goes on.
