I have the opportunity to buy Mass Effect for the PC for $25. I was wondering if it is worth it? The last game I played that I really enjoyed was Bioshock for the PC. Thanks in advance. Just wanted to see what people thought of it. Thanks.

where are you getting it for 25? i never got it myself either and wouldn't mind at that price.. i think the current retail for it is 40

I enjoyed it. It was nice as it had a bit of a different storyline. Although, I have to admit that once I finished it, I was wanting more. Not sure if that's because maybe I felt there should have been more to the game...or perhaps the fact that I just enjoyed playing it. Gave it to my nephew when I was finished.

Yeah the game felt too short for amount of events happening, but each event extends to a pretty long time of gameplay. Overall I think it's a great game, half RPG half shooter, be warned it contain a lot of talking and answering.

I'll admit i didn't like ME at the beginning. The story just didn't "grab me." But give it some time, it is a good game and a lot of fun later on.

But it doesn't hold a candle to FO3. FO3 had me from the beginning and hasn't let go yet.

But for $25, ME is a good deal.

I enjoyed it lots.
Some of the gameplay is repetitive but still, loadsa fun.
$25 is worthy.

Never got into it, but I'd pick it up for $25

I thoroughly enjoyed my play through. I usually play games for its story line, and Mass Effect didn't let me down.

Nope, don't touch it unless you enjoy uninspired combat, branching conversation trees and bad star trek aesthetic.

Bioware is one of the most over-rated developers imo.

Excellent game. Not a single bug/error all the way through the game for me. Great story. Definitely worth $25. I'm playing through a second time now between Dead Space and Fallout 3.

Completely the opposite for me. Mass Effect was the best RPG I've played since Knights of the Old Republic 1, while Fallout 3 was little more than an expansion pack for Oblivion set in a big junkyard.

You'd be well in the minority. Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, KotOR and NWN1 were among the best RPGs ever made (one of the Baldur's Gate games may well be the best RPG ever made).

ME was an awesome game. It's just waaaaay too short. Sure you can drag it out by about 20 more hours but the side quests in that game are pretty freaking lame. If you want something short and sweet pick up ME. I'm currently playing Fallout 3 and it's a much more epic game and exploring is actually fun.

ME is an abortion of an rpg, dumbed down to the highest degree to appeal to the masses. It is no where near the same pedigree as the likes of KOTOR, Baldurs Gate or Planescape Torment. Its effectively a third person shooter with RPG elements, and a crippled inventory and weapons system.

Bioware quite literally ripped the plot of ME out of starcontrol 2, absolutely incredible. At least starcontrol 2 was a much more engrossing experience.

I just beat it for the second time with no patches. I started DL'ing the patch and the free DLC for it now that I finished it. Im looking forward to seeing what the DLC brings to the table. And its still a beautiful game.

IMHO it was one of the best gaming experiences I have had in years.

Same here. Can't wait for ME2 or even a ME MMO. I'm definitely not an MMO player, but I would consider it for ME. I suspect we won't see ME2 for a good long while now that Bioware has sunk their teeth into the SW MMO.

Fair enough. I never played BG1 and 2. NWN didn't do it for me, graphics were awful. Funny cuz I did enjoy AD&D growing up. They just didn't do it justice. KOTOR was a mixed bag. It had some really good sections and some really poorly done, rushed sections.

In fact the only game a liked from them was MDK2. One of the better action games of the time. Great, varied gameplay. Awesome sense of scale. Good sense of humor.

For RPGs: Diablo 2, Castlevania Symphony of the Night, AD&D DeathKeep, Zelda 2, and Final Fantasy 1 are among the best imo.
