Trying to stay under $130 before MIR

Board has to have Raid on board sound
support 1066 DDR2 will be buying another 4gb sooner or later

The rest of the build will consist of
OS Vista home premium
Evga 8800gt
Corsair HX520
2x dvd burners sata
2x400gb seagates sata

I think I'm going with OCZ Fatal1ty Edition 2x2GB

I don't OC
I want plug and play
I've never flashed bios before I don't plan on dicking around with bios on this build either

I'm looking into these 2 boards

ASUS P5Q SE/R

Or
GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R

Any other suggestions would be appreciated

i went with a asus P5Q pro from new egg, i couldnt be happier.

no oc? why not--- its super easy and its like free speed. I mean if you could have a quad chip that is 2ghz for a hundred bucks-- or a differnt quad that runs at 3.6ghz for the same price-- which would you pick... same situation here--learn how to oc and have some fun..

Everything is plug and play these days... You plug the part onto the mobo-- and go play... (ok-- maybe a bit over simplified but not much)

Yes you will mess with the bios-- cause the bios that comes with the board is a early immature bios and youll need to upgrade to a new bios to get the stable mobo that your after... Do some reading on how to do update the bois so you dont brick the thing-- and then go for it.. Dont use the auto updater that asus has-- use a flash drive or at least upload the new bios to your desktop -- then if you have to use the bios upgrade program supplied by asus-- select the bios off your desktop--- not from the internet--- that is more stable then using the internet.. Also-- ket here has some good bios;s http://www.xtremesystems.org/Forums/showthread.php?t=200109 -- im using the m1406 bios with success...

Goodluck..

+1 but to each their own ;)

I've got my older Q6600 G0 running at 3.2GHZ at stock voltage on a cheap-assed ECS board in my media pc. Stable as a rock and not even so much as a hiccup...even using the stock HSF for it.

Replacing it with an Asus P5Q-EM here in about a week though.

For the board for the OP...personally I don't think you could go wrong with ANY of the boards listed since you're not going to OC. Just pick whatever board has all the features you want and at the best price and click the buy button.

GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R. I'm getting ready to get one of these bad boys for myself soon.

well id have to say gigabyte and asus would be my last choices unless i was broke and love to RMA!! foxconn DFI are solid motherboards with bad ass color schemes.. not sure which one other guy recommended but i will prob buy that one and a x48 dfi mobo today (unless the prices will drop drastically soon)
