The numbers are in and it looks as though, when it comes to global processor revenue, Intel is up slightly at 80.4% while AMD is down with 12.1%. Hit the link for a bigger break down of year to year and quarter to quarter performance.

Yea, that's what happens when you stop making reasonably fast processors compared to the competition. Does AMD even have a new chip architecture on the roadmap? As far as I know it's nothing but process shrinks to 45nm and 32nm and adding a few things here and there. They need a real actual NEW architecture not just some rehash of the same thing over and over.

AMD's next architecture, code-named Bulldozer, is due out in 2010 or 2011. The multi-chip module "Fusion" processors are due out next year, but that's not a new architecture.

This is good, but there is absolutely no way that AMD/ATI can die on the vine like that. If they go under, we as consumers are royally screwed. It was only a year ago that nvidia had zero competition and were allowed to keep the same parts on the market for a full year before updating when ATI came back with something reasonable.

I was looking in the market, almost bought some AMD stock at around 4 something thinking it was a low but really I should get it now due to its super low now. But now I don't have much faith in it ever going back up much.

Dude, not with any more than 5% of your portfolio, MAX. There are better places to make money.

That little bump for intel could easily just be all of those little Atom based Netbooks being sold. AMD really doesn't have anything to offer in that arena.

I am glad most people switched to an intel.:( Even though amd processors aren't as good right now, people are still buying computers from intel with celerons in them. Makes me sick.

Depending on AMD's next chip I may go back to them. The price/performance ratio was really in Intel's court this round. It's the only time I've ever owned an Intel processor so I hope AMD comes back.

What are you talking about? Yesterday Fuzilla was pimping AMD's Geode LX800 (500MHz of Cyrix MediaGX derived slowness) that is shipping in an overpriced netbook in Europe. :p http://www.fudzilla.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=10189&Itemid=1

*scratches head*

Hrm. Well.

My previous statement is still accurate, even though I find the Atom to perform like a 600Mhz P2/3 at times. A Geode is still effectively a 486, IIRC. I'd rather use a Via C7 before I touch a Geode.
