Just wondering if this card really exists or if Newegg screwed up.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814129113

I haven't seen a dual fan Visiontek 4870 anywhere else, every search result for the model number shows the standard single fan version. It looks more like the Palit Sonic, but apparently Newegg has no idea, all they could tell me is the product pictures are supplied by Visiontek, and to check their website. No such card is mentioned there. You'd think Newegg would at least know if the products they're selling match what they're showing buyers.

It's probably something that was picked-up by visiontek through Palit. Kinda like selling a toyota in America under a GM brand name. The only thing that bothers me about that listing is that the palit version is 40 bucks cheaper. It's up for 219 right now...that's a nice price for that card with better cooling and native HDMI.

VisionTek vid cards usually have part numbers that start with VT. The images of the stickers on the underside of the card show that the part number does start with VT. It is still prolly a re-brand, but then, many cards are.

Looking at Palit cards, part numbers tend to start with XAE for Ati and XNE for Nv.

The problem is that when you use their image viewer, the image selector shows the dual fan card, but when you select an image to enlarge,it shows the single fan card.So the image you're looking at with the stickers may be from the single fan model.

No it doesn't. The pictures are the same.

I don't know, that pages is kind of weird. Some of the pictures show the two fan cooler, while some show the stock single fan cooler. And if you go to the large picture viewer, there is another set of pictures with some being the single fan and others being the dual fan...

No it doesn't. The pictures are the same.

I also saw a different set of pictures.

Hmm, your correct, the pictures don't match the thumbnails. And when you zoom in, some of the pictures do not even match the un-zoomed photos. The Hell.
Well, judging from the reviews the card is still as loud and hot as the reference design.

Looks like the Gainward GS.

Gainward and Palit are exactly the same...owned by the same company, made in the same factory, etc. Just different stickers. You can read more about it here:

http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/video/palit-3.html

I can't explain this Visiontek labeled verison of what is obviously a Gainward/Palit card though, pretty weird. It definitely shows the images of the custom cooled 2-slot card for me. It even shows it next to a box saying "Visiontek HD 4870" which makes things more confusing. However...it has slightly different stickers than either the Gainward OR the Palit...which makes me think it might actually be a Visiontek re-brand. They seem to be the biggest ATI board partner now anyways what with Best Buy stocking the cards and such, so it's not that surprising. (Sapphire doesn't count because they have the worst tech support known to man).

I must be on a different internet than you guys. The internet i'm on shows all the pictures matching with a dual-slot, duo fan.

Is it so hard to believe that a video card got re-branded?

/thread.

Probably it has been fixed by now, i also see correct correspondent pictures,

Very odd. Im also getting different pics from the thumbnails and it does change to the dual fan image when zooming in.

I definetly like the look of the dual fan cooler better.

Yeah...there goes that other internet again. I get the same pics zoomed.

The one indisputable difference is that the Palit is 40 bucks cheaper. Unless there are different prices on your internet, also.

There's also the difference that Palit only offers a two year warranty, while Visiontek offers lifetime. There's recent reviews on the product page where buyers comment that they received a single fan card rather than the one pictured,so somethings not right. The point is,neither Newegg or Visiontek seemed inclined to offer any clarification.

*nvm* If I were buying, I'd buy the Palit. I'll take cheap over warranty anyday.

Or the images are in your browser cache, seeing as you are the only one for whom the pictures are correctly matched ;)
