World of Goo (how is it?)

The game is gettin rave reviews and is now available on Steam.. Anyone played it yet?

IGN review

I got it on the Wii since I'm waiting for them to patch the resolution fix (you can't change it on the PC version).

It's and amazing game is extremely well done for an indie developer. Highly recommended. :D

lol I love how they rate the game as "incredible."

While I'm sure the game is fun, and hell- it might even be really good.... are our standards of gaming so low that this title is worthy of the adjective "incredible?" Perhaps.

The word "incredible" really implies that this game is beyond belief. To those who have played it... is it really that good? lol

I guess I'll have to judge for myself when I play it.

The steam version was available in the UK/EU for a short period, and now wont be available until march next year!

I like indie studios who promote all thats good in gameplay but being treated like shit because of where you live, handing out products to other people simply because of their location and denying europeans for no good reason...

How do they expect to sell anything, I cant believe how retarded that is, they've lost my custom, can't support this divide especially on the internet, Bioshock did this but the difference was about 3 days and I can't get over the stupidity of it.

World of Goo is scheduled to launch in Europe with an exclusive 6th chapter (the moon) in the first quarter of 2009. Both PC and Wii versions will be available as boxed retail games, and the PC version will be available online as well, through Steam and other digital distribution channels. If you want your goo now, you can get the North American version on our website.

Cant you buy it directly from them? They also claim you can register it with steam.

The game is actually pretty cool, dont really have much time to play through it though. Stupid exams!

You can buy it directly through their site if you live in Europe.

The reason why it's delayed on Steam is because the 2DBoy guy overlooked a clause in the contract with the distributor regarding digital distribution.

"As part of our European agreement, we are restricted from selling the game on Steam in Europe. I’m thinking this was a clause that was accidentally left in, since I can’t imagine this kind of restriction is good for anyone. We’re going to try to reverse it. We live in the future. We shouldn’t even have countries and regions. Just one big Internet where everyone is equal."

The game is very decent. The music score is phenomenal. The humor is quirky, but not really to my taste. The puzzles generally aren't too hard. The game would probably be better priced at $15 to be honest.

And if you didn't know it was made by former EA programmers, you'll figure it out quickly... no widescreen support in a game released in late 2008 :)

Also no volume, resolution, control or other options. No settings you can change at all actually. It's very much like a flash game.

That's rapetarded. I'll wait for a patch or a price drop :/

$20 for a game like that is too much. Period. With $20 I could buy Mass Effect, The Witcher, CoH, etc.

Thanks for supporting indie developpers ...

give your cash to EA and feed the monster

I picked it up on Wii and it is widescreen from what I can tell nothing looks stretched horizontally so it must just be in the PC version.

It's well worth it at $15 (Wii price) I would have been hesitant at $20 though but it's a pretty big game actually.

Where can you buy The Witcher and Mass effect at $20? I see both of them at $29.99+ still.

$17 each actually. But not in the US ;) (And yes, they're legal, legit, brand new, sealed and sold in a reputable store)

Been playin this for the past 5 days or so and it is well worth the $20.

The gameplay far exceeds any negative like no options or no widescreen support.

The game exudes atmosphere from every pore and is a blast to play.

What a breath of fresh air this game was. It reminded me very much of portal with it's humorous and witty director, *fun* puzzle solving, and spectacular music. I do agree that $20 is a little too steep for this game though, there are only 5 chapters, about 8 levels in each, with the 5th containing ~3.

i hope they do patch it.
800x600 aint cuttin it at all. My native res is 1360x768 widscreen.
Any option would have been nice.

Yeah shame about the resolution, the puzzles for me are typically easy so far, I've not got stuck on anything in the first 2 chapters.
