Since i never played it i decided to give it a go, but the game is so damn complex that it's not worth playing it just to spend some time.

Anyone else felt/feels like this?

What were you expecting? And what do you mean by "casual gameplay"?

I didn't think Black and White was insanely complex. There was a little bit of a learning curve because of the unconventional gameplay, but otherwise I didn't have a problem with it.

Yeah I had a little trouble managing the village but eventually got the hang of it.
Also I didn't use my pet much for anything, I didn't get it either. :p
Maybe I should try it again.

Micromanagement RTS as a casual game? Do you take ephedrine when you need to go to sleep? :D

I got into B&W and then decided that I didn't like RTS much, dropped it and never played again. You want casual try finding the Myth games--gawd I'd love to see that updated with the original voice acting.

^^same here. to me it was incredibly simple, to the point of boring redundancy. your creature is useless for anything besides killing a few guys once in a while. I'm assuming you mean the second version, the first one I never played but I would imagine it was even easier. black and white an "rts"? you must be joking.

it wasnt to hard to get the creature to be useful. i could attach mine to a town and he would take it for me. was especially fun to make the evil creature. he wasnt that big of a part of the game though, despite what the game says.

Half the fun of that game was just messing with your creature. Petting him after he poops on a house always leads to interesting results.

I hated the mouse control scheme in Black and White. You're expected to move the hand on an x-y plane, but your mouse can only move in x. Madness!

I was more fond of petting his crotch:eek:

gotta love that... he knows it's not ok for you to rub him there but doesn't know he shouldn't eat ppl then crap them out on someone else's house

I liked the game until the competitions with the other gods became endless tug of war scenarios where no progress was being made. Neat game though.

did u get black and white or black and white 2? I personally prefer the 2nd and its a great game once u get into it.

my major beef with the game was that it was rather unstable (b&w original). I could be in the middle of something and it would crash loosing hours of work. I eventually just said fuck it and never played it again.
