I think we need this thread, come on people, show off a bit. I want to see the pretty things I keep hearing about.

Not a flame or anything, but god damn that looks exactly like WoW.

I'd say more of a cross between wow and guild wars

What do you guys freakin' expect? They're both about Elves, Warriors, etc. They're going to have the same basic concepts... big guys in armors, etc. And to be fair, Warhammer has been around longer than Warcraft, and many people argue that Warcraft stole most of their ideas from Warhammer.
As for "it looks like WoW". No, the art is not in the same direction in any form. They're both MMOs though, and I guess all of them do have a certain look to 'em. Even pseudo-MMO Guild Wars. (Which IMHO looks more like WAR than WoW does)
BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.....Are you sure about that statement? Warcraft has been around since 1995. You realize that right?

"The first edition of the game, Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, was published in 1987"
Bwahaha omg I like totally win, lulz.
LULZzz0rz I didnt know boardgames counted too
Do you know anything about WAR? It's not a "carbon copy". I'm not going to spend time telling you what the differences are, as you don't seem to care. People are leaving because they realize WoW's PVP is lame and want something that DAoC gave. WAR is promising, and so far delivering on that.I dont really care either way for WoW or this Warhamer copy of WoW. Why the hell would someone sacrifice ALL their invested time in WOW and switch to play this carbon copy? This will be squashed in a matter of a few months just like Age of Conan was.

Just wondering, but is this game based on the Warcraft III engine? If so, then it would explain a lot.

"Since first appearing in 1983, Warhammer has been periodically updated and re-released with changes to the gaming system and army lists."
So yeah, I'm as big a Blizz fanboy as anyone, but the simple truth is that the Warcraft art style is *directly* derived from the original Warhammer art style.
It's just sort of unfortunate that WAR had to come out later than WoW and most folks have no historical knowledge of pre-videogame Warhammer, so it gets accused of being a rip-off.
It doesn't matter. When you release an MMO years after WoW that graphically looks the same as wow with maybe some better textures, something is wrong.
I played it last weekend, it sucked. I could not believe the horrible animations of skills and the lack of ingame AA option.
This really looks like nothing new. I don't understand why people get such massive hardons for these kinda games and keep coming back to them.
Surely there's only so many times you can repetitively kill monsters or "collect x amount of y and take it to z" before you lose the will to live?
this sums it up for me - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progress_Quest
Thats complete bullshit. Go back through the old screenshots af both games and youll clearly see blizzard was using this style of animation long before warhammer. Even looking at the art from the old table top you can see its vastly different from warcrafts style and if you take a real look youll even see on the PC this style has only been recently adopted by the warhammer franchise.
Warhammer may predate warcraft as a title but thats all.
I'm enjoying the game. That's all that matters to me. Forced AA works and looks perfectly fine on my 4870. *shrug*
You can say that about any genre of game, especially FPS. People keep playing them for one simple reason: Fun.
I know this "fun" stuff is a hard concept for a lot of people to grasp but maybe some day you'll figure it out.
Quite a shame this thread degenerated into a "ONG IT LOOKS LIKE WOW LOLAOL!" but I'm not surprised to say the least. It's either this or another PS3 vs 360 thread I guess.
the reason everyone is surprised it looks like wow, is because that was where it was suppose to differ the most (alongside the pvp aspect). i have to admit, it looks rediculously close to wow....so all that hype and praise about it being "wow's replacement" makes that fact pretty funny.
p.s.: i have never played wow beyond the trial.....this is just an outsiders perspective
p.p.s: ONG IT LOOKS LIKE WOW LOLAOL!
Protip: There's more to a game than the graphics.
Perhaps the difference lies there.
Of course we all know this right? Oh we don't? Damn.
Protip #2: we're in a screenshot thread.
Warhammer artwork 1984: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Warhammer-second-edition-cover.jpg
Vastly different?
Really?
I see cartoonish with a hint of comedy, which is also what I see when I look at WAR and WoW.
I guess it's subjective.
So did the retail release have better graphics than the Beta, like all the beta guys insisted was the case?
