Weird Memory Timings

I have a question concerning my memory timings. When I look at my memory timings in cpuz it comes up as 33-6-2-15. I figured it was an error, but it also comes up as that in SIW so it isn't just cpuz screwing up. In the bios, I have it set up to me 5-5-5-15 (which is what the ram is supposed to be). I also have the correct voltages going to it (2.05v). Everything else in the bios is set to defaults. (Btw setting everything in the bios to defaults doesn't fix the problem)

This is the ram that I have: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231166

For some reason, cpuz also says that it is ddr3, dual channel, in asymmetric. I tried my friends ram in my computer (exact same ram) and the problem still happened, but it doesn't happen on his computer. He also has the same motherboard as me, which is a ASUS P5K deluxe. Finally, I have both sticks in both of the yellow slots on my motherboard. The issue still happens if the two sticks are in the two black slots as well.

I am out of ideas why this would be happening. Do any of you smarter people know what is going on? Feel free to ask me questions, as I may have left some details out, but this is all I can think of for now.

Thanks.

Screenshots of cpu-z memory tab please and just for fun what happens if you run it asymmetric with one yellow one black slot filled?

Ok, here is the cpuz screenshot. This is what shows up when I have both sticks in both yellow or both black.

This second screenshot is what shows up when the ram is in the 1st yellow slot and the 1st black slot.

Again, any help on this is greatly appreciated.

Wild, crazy stuff there.

I tried my friends ram in my computer (exact same ram) and the problem still happened, but it doesn't happen on his computer. He also has the same motherboard as me, which is a ASUS P5K deluxe.

This seems to point to your motherboard, no? Did you happen to try your RAM in his setup?

Do you have the latest BIOS for your motherboard? What voltage does your friend give the RAM?

I would say its more to do with cpuz and siw not reading the chip correctly hence the fuked up ram specs.

Are you using the latest cpuz and have you updated siw ?

if so, then email cpuz makers and ask them, because cpuz is famous for showing the wrong settings, but normally a new version fixes said problem.

I would also suggest upgrading your mobo bios as stated above, if you already havent done so.

Personally I just think that its software not reading the chip properly hence the ddr3 and the crazy timings, if you want, you can do a bandwidth test on your ram to see if the speed and bandwidth is where it should be at.

Just because you tried in your friends rig, doesnt mean to say that it will be the same in your rig even if they are both the same mobo, as he could have a different revision of mobo to you which may have slight differences.

Also, are you 100% sure that newegg sent you the correct ram and it is infact ddr3 with different timings that you got instead of what you ordered ?

So I was able to solve my problem. I updated my bios to the newest asus ones and it is now showing correct 5-5-5-15 timings. One question tho. If i still wanted to run a memory bandwidth test, what is a good program to do so with?

Thanks

I think this might be your best bet for free bandwidth testing.

The latest version on this page. 2.20.405

I think the latest version of Everest never does anything if you don't pay after the trial version, but this was the last free version. Others probably have better suggestions.

Good news about the BIOS though. :D
