I've been having a terrible time deciding on a new monitor, but I've finally narrowed it down to these two. I was looking forward to the DoubleSight DS-265W but it seems like it has been delayed yet again. With that being said, I'll be coming from a Dell 2005FPW and I use this primarily for gaming. I also use it for web browsing, movie watching, and word processing tasks. I'm currently leaning toward the Planar due to it being 26 inches and very low input lag.

Any advice or comments would be useful. :)

I am in the same boat as well !! .... Ive been waiting to make a purchase on the DS-265W and
been here now that is delayed thru till October. Should I pull the trigger on the Planar?

I would say wait if you can. I personally want to see what the new DS can do and at what final price point compared to the Planar. Now I have a Dell 2405FPW so I can hold out, you guys may not be in the same boat.

Unfortunately I can't wait, as I need this new panel for another computer.

I ordered the DS 265W about a month ago off provantage for the cost of 712.00 bucks.
Shipping is 80 bucks though ! but the overall cost of the 265W Is cheaper then what I
would have paid for the DS- 263N . Im gonna wait it out anyway. I really want this monitor
for when Far cry 2 comes out ... hopefully soon.

I've been researching what to buy for the last two months. I have a 2005FPW as well and narrowed it down to the same three monitors. Yesterday, I ordered the Planar for the following reasons:

1) Even though I really liked the multimedia inputs the LP2475W had, I probably wouldn't use anything other than DVI very often since the monitor will only be hooked up to my PC for the time being. If I need HDMI down the road I can just get an adapter.

2) The LP2475W is the cheapest as it's only 24" compared to the others at 26". 24" is plenty large for me, but it's not significantly cheaper than the DS-265W or PX2611W. You can only get it from HP in the US at the moment, and with tax and shipping it's only about $50 cheaper.

3) I wanted to like the Doublesight, but the ridiculously thick bezel kinda turned me off. The potential HDMI and component inputs were the only real pros over the Planar for me and it wasn't worth getting the ugly bezel in return IMO. Noone seems to be 100% sure what inputs this monitor even has, anyway. It's almost certainly not going to have the A-TW polarizer, so I didn't feel it was waiting for.

4) Planar's warranty is very, very good while Doublesight's is lacking. HP's seems pretty good too, but the monitor is too expensive IMO. Plus Amazon had the Planar in stock, so there's an excellent return policy in case I change my mind.

Excellent reply. When you get the Planar panel, could you do me a favor and give me your impressions? It seems we think alike, and I would value your opinion greatly.

Sure. It should be delivered Friday. I'll have some impressions on Saturday.

I'm edging toward the Planar due to input response times; however, the lack of inputs is throwing a monkey wrench into the whole deal

The HP seems to have all the appropriate inputs, but lag is slightly higher between 1-2 frames (closer to 1)
Whereas the Planar I believe has an input lag of less than 1 frames, but only has VGA and DVI-D

Those seem to be the main differences for me. I'm still waiting for more reviews though

1-2 frames input lag for a s-ips isn't that bad imho COMPARED to the Dell 2408 .....

Even for a gamer, the overall benefit of the HP seem to make it a better in my view :X

Same boat: I can't wait for the DS 265W anymore and since Buy.com screwed up my PX2611W order I now have it being shipped from NextWarehouse.com

$764.81 shipped.

I've ordered lots of stuff from them over the past two years and they are very good.

Alright, I've been using the Planar for the last 24 hours and I'm completely satisfied. I was worried about wide-gamut issues, but it's not bad at all after calibration, granted I don't do photo work. The screen size is perfect for my desk and viewing distance. I'm really sensitive to input lag in games and this performs as well as the Benq G2400WD I had (IOW, imperceptible). No dead pixels. Very minor backlight bleeding, which is much improved over my 2005FPW.

I guess the only complaint is the location of the USB ports. There aren't any device ports on the back, only the side. The stand could stand some more vertical adjustment range. And the limited inputs could be an issue for some people. But those are the only "problems", so I'd say it's pretty damn good.

I have the Dell 2405FPW as well.

I am however now buying the HP LP2475W

- it's 24'' WUXGA wide screen

- wide gamut but people have reported that with calibration this is manageable.

- it has dvi, hdmi and display port

- input lag is low for gaming

- Latest H-IPS panel

- good adjustment such as pivot, swivel and tilt

Internet had been down for a few days, looking to see if anyone else can provide some impressions on these monitors. Seems as if the DS265W is shipping after all, so if you have impressions on that post away. :)
