Vista 32:

I've liked my Vista experience so far, have had this current computer since feb. and i've liked it. C&C first decade i had to add -cd. to tiberian sun and red alert 2 to get them to work, but no problems with anything in vista.

I can now add Vista 64 as a platform I game on. I purchased a Gateway P-6860FX and it is pretty nice for gaming. Not as good as a desktop, but impressive for a laptop. Vista seems to be rockin along just fine so far... ;)

i get to try vista on my new laptop..hopefully it wont disappoint me..used it a couple times and didnt spark my interest like xp did when it first came out

I voted on this thread when it first came out, 32bit vista. I'm surprised to see at least 3 times more gamers using the 64bit version. Should've ignored the naysers about the 64bit version's compatability with programs when vista was first released and just gone with it.

Nah there were probs early on. You can always upgrade to the 64 bit version for free. (well MS charges a fee for teh CD's but technicaly it is a free upgrade if you can borrow somone elses 64 bit copy of the same version you have. Just use your old key.

A simpler way is to just download the x64 SP1 ISO from the source of your choosing & have at it.

just built a new rig (the first in a few years now) and i'm running windows vista 64 bit.

It will have to be vista 64 because 8GB ram + video card isn't going to fly on a 32 bit OS.

My exact reason for going with Vista 64 Ultimate.

Main computer is Vista x64 Ultimate.
Wife is Vista x64 HP
Spare is Vista x64 HP

Main laptop is Vista64/XP32 Pro Dualboot
Secondary is XP32 Pro

Been dual booting Vista 64 and XP 64 for the last year-plus, finally ditched XP for good last month and haven't looked back. Aside from ATI's theater mode (which I will sorely miss) there was nothing else left that worked significantly better in XP anymore. 64-bit is pretty much mandatory with 8 gigs of RAM.

Vista Ultimate 64-bit

If you have Vista 32-bit just download the 64-bit disc and do yourself a favor. It runs so much better than 32-bit.

I have Vista 64bit since April 2007 and my only problem was slow network - copying files over network took forever - (resolved in SP1). Some programs needed udate but it was pretty easy to find them.

Vista 32, but pretty soon going to 64bit, no reason not to go that way, esp. with newer GPU's having so much VRAM nowdays.

Vista 64.

I was actually kind of nervous about switching over but was planning on bumping against the RAM limit for my new PC build so figured: "what the heck, I can always go back".

I was greatly suprised by the total lack of issues.

After having used it for a few months, I now know that the people who still make out that Vista is a catastrophy are wrong, lying, insane or a combination of all three.

My current position is: if you're happy with XP, stick with it, if you want more than 4gb of RAM, have no fear about about going Vista64, it will work fine.

I hope Windows 7 wil be 64bit only...

I agree... but from everything I've read, Windows 7 will be 32 and 64 bit.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7

However, considering that laptops are now showing up in BestBuy with 64 bit Vista, it may be that Windows 7 32 bit will only be on the low end of pre-built systems. 64 bit Vista seems to have really taken off over the last year and that seems to be opening eyes across the industry - 64 bit support in Windows 7 should be strong and common from the get-go.

It wouldn't suprise me at all for some game produces to require a 64 bit OS in a few years if that helps them put the game out faster/better as the biggest adopter of 64 bit right now seems to be the gaming crowd.

I went with Vista x64 because of the free copy I got from the WFP thing that popped up awhile back.

I'm still on XP 32. I would like to make the jump to Vista 64, the benefit just doesn't justify the cost for me yet.

i was using xp32 for my system and my wife's old system, then i upgraded to vista 64 and haven't looked back since

some compatibility issues (voice overlay for vent) but otherwise, i like vista

Just made the switch to Vista 64bit. Driver installation was sort of a pain but everythings good now. I might load XP32 bit onto my second hard drive if I have a reason to but right now it's done everything I need it to perfectly.

Mostly Vista 32. I have another 2 gb of ram waiting to go to 64... have been saying I will install that and go 64 for about 3 months now, but something always comes up. I should get around to it one of these days :)

I also play a bit of WoW on my Mac.
