I've been thinking about getting a Netbook lately, but I'm undecided on whether I want an Asus EEE, Lenovo S10, Acer Aspire, or HP 2133. I'm leaning more towards the Lenovo simply because I've been extremely happy with all my past Lenovo/IBM purchases.

Sounds like you've already made up your mind. :)

The upcoming Dell 910 looks to be a winner all the way around, if they come to market with it (it was expected to be officially announced on the 22nd but nothing's been heard), and if the rumored price of $299 for the base model comes true, it'll definitely be the one to grab.

My biggest issue with the dell is the rumors suggest they are just gonna have 8 or 16gb SSD HDD. Not big enough imo, regardless of the rest of the system.

Does anyone have any more information on the Lenovo S10? My only concerns with it are whether it can easily be upgraded to 1gb of ram, and if Linux runs good on it. I have no intention of running Windows on which ever one I get.

if you wanna go on the larger side i'd recommend the eee 1000H. i love mine. perfect balance between portability and screen size. the eee 701 sucked after awhile. hate that screen size

I was trying to avoid the 1000H, the biggest EEE PC I would get is the 901.

Well, they can't really put much larger SSDs in Netbooks because as soon as they do the price skyrockets. If you're that interested in that much space get a Netbook and then grab the cheapest 32GB or larger SSD you can actually afford and do it yourself, I'd say. Looking at Newegg for a moment shows me a Transcend 32GB internal 2.5" SSD for $155, so yes the pricing is coming down, quite rapidly I might add.

But in terms of even massive quantities of those drives for an OEM Netbook maker, it would push the cost into the $600 range more than likely and that would defeat the purpose of coming to market in the sub-$500 range.

I kinda like the Dell from the "leaked" pics and specs. I hated Dell in the mid to late 90s, I really did. But they changed around 2000 or so and have been putting out some solid damned hardware over the years since. The Lenovo S10 looks good as well, but I wouldn't touch the Acer myself.

If I had to get one, I do believe I'd go for the Dell but that decision is based on the leaked specs. It still remains to be seen just what Dell has up their sleeves...

Early photos show it with a small right shift key behind the arrow keys. That's my main complaint with the dell 910 so far.

Acer just dropped their prices by $50 and the latest version seems to put them in the lead right now.

The -1447 comes with 8.9" 1G, 160gHD AND FINALLY the 6cell battery version for a grand total of $399 (not here YET but probably only a week or two a way)

The current version 120, 3cell is available at BB for $349

ASSUMING things stay stable until the new version arrives it looks Like I will go with the latest Acer, especially since I really only need this as a book reader (also looking for a touchscreen mod for it-saw the EEE but their prices just crept to high for what is offered now)

I'm looking to buy a netbook as well, I currently have it narrowed down to the Lenovo S10 and MSi Wind. I would normally choose a Lenovo hands down, but I'm waiting to see if it will have built-in bluetooth and a 6-cell battery before I make a decision.

Just curious, but what did you have in mind for the bluetooth?
