Me and a buddy just finished building are new comps, but I'm having some problems connecting to my wireless network. I installed the drivers to my shitty little Linksys speedbooster, and I cant connect to any net work, let alone, see them. In fact, it wont even let me click on any option but "exit". I went to go fumble around in my network settings, and I noticed that the wireless options (and the wireless 'connection' that is normally there next to the LAN) are missing. Any ideas what this could be? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm not really tracking. Are you trying to set up the wireless router or the client software?

I'm trying to connect to my existing wireless network. The USB adapter is plugged in, but even after installing all the software for it, its not even seen under the device manager. Sorry if I'm not getting you all the info you need. I'm dumb when it comes to networking.

You're saying the computer doesn't recognize any hardware in the USB category? Consider uninstalling the drivers and letting windows use it's own software.

Do you have a flash drive or USB drive you can try first? Once you are sure it can even recognize a USB device you can start troubleshooting the WiFi dongle.

What brand/model number of USB WiFi dongle is it? What brand/model number of wireless router are you using?

Yeah, the flash drive works fine. Another problem I'm having, is under my network connections it doest give any wireless options. (On my old computer, it had the wireless connection right next to the LAN, this one lacks that.)

The USB is a linksys 'speedbooster'. The router is the default one verizon put in, Actiontec.

You should be able to fetch any additional S/W from the Linksys website. But have you tried to simply insert the USB dongle and go to control panel > Wireless network setup wizard?
